RimWorld

RimWorld

How is this on Steam Deck
I have been debating getting this and from the videos I have seen it looks like there's so much to control. Wondering how it works on SD?

Really there are basically two control functions; a left click and a right click. In addition to that, the direction (or WASD) can be used to move the camera around.

Control scheme-wise, it should be easy.

There have been lots of reports that it works fine on SD, and even specialized patches released for the SD version of that game. As far as anyone has said, it works just find on SD.

Same with the console version of the game. People have said it works fine. The controls are not the hard part to port or get to work well, its just the generally high CPU usage that the game engine has to simulate the environment and pawns that is a system hog.

Rimworld runs fantastic on the SteamDeck, including with quite a few mods. Just know that the more mod-hungry you get, the more CPU hungry the SD will get, and thus less battery life, if that matters to you.

Speaking as someone who has ALWAYS been a Keyboard & Mouse sorta gamer and loathes using a controller - I found the control scheme to be very comfortable. The SD's touchpads greatly help with usability in games such as this. I'd say its well worth it!
What button do you press on SD for the "shift" key on a KB? I have been watching a lot of videos because I don't understand the game at all. Many videos are saying to hold shift down when you select a pawn.

For me, on my SD, it's the lower back right trigger, R5. Helps for selecting multiple units

How is it visibility-wise though? Can you get the text to a readable size?
