RimWorld

Game removed every single piece of sandstone from the map
I do play with mods so I guess it makes sense. Basically i was playing for maybe 6 hours overall saved maybe 20 times reloaded and everything was fine. Then I reloaded 20 minutes ago today and poof the entire mountain behind my base disappeared.

I am mostly just curious if someone ran into the same issue.

Didn't work, I guess either i did something wrong or the save is beyond saving since the sandstone mountain is physically gone. Thanks anyway!

Not sure what happened.

If you add a new mod mid-save it can sometimes mess up item IDs somehow, I don't know the exact mechanics of this but things like compacted steel can turn into raw bacon or charge rifles (things I have personally seen happen), or just empty tiles. Sounds like that happened to you but with sandstone, it was converted into something else, probably something that isn't meant to be an item on the map so it became nothing.

If you added any mods since your last save, removing them and loading that old save might fix it. Sometimes mods update automatically and that can break things, can check your recently updated subscribed items to see which mods have changed recently and check the comments for similar issues. There may be a fix listed.

On that note, what mods did you add or update before this started happening?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone is running Vanilla textures expanded or Vanilla expanded framework or alpha genes and encountered this issue? As I have not changed a single mod during this run but just ran into this issue. And those are the only mods that have updated between now and when I last played on my list.

Might also be Fortification industrial - Citadel as it had an update as well, and lists hash collisions as a possible issue when added mid save (Although I added it prior to starting my current).

i have the same issue, all but the damaged sandstone (<99%) is gone and my pawns can go in the mountain. I play with mods, but havent added any mod. I think the bug is "Map compressor decompression error: No thingDef with short hash 324. Adding as null to dictionary.
(Filename: C:\buildslave\unity\build\Runtime/Export/Debug/Debug.bindings.h Line: 39)"

None it was a completely fresh save with freshly downloaded up-to-date mods. I downloaded them all yesterday.

Then again it's more of a nuisance than an actual problem since i can still use the space it's the undiscovered tiles that are annoying.

It seems to have been an update to Vanilla Expanded Framework.
I'm going to confirm this now by using an older version of it to test

I've personally been avoiding sandstone for a over year now. Had a few different issues with sandstone including the one described in this topic

AFAIK, the most recent Vanilla Expanded Framework update is the most likely culprit, but not totally sure. The team behind VE has a lot of complex mods with a lot of crazy interactions, and often don't post every little change to the steam forums so it is a bit hard to cross check.
