Hold the phone, they raised the normal price to $35?
Wow, just wow. Even with all that dlc, (some lackluster at best).

Meanwhile other great EA successes stay the same or go down in price. Even ones without DLC.

So what?

Because EA titles are disposable 1-off games that you play once and never install again, and Rimworld is a classic game that continues to generate interesting and fun gameplay after multiple thousands of hours.

While it varies a lot, there have been plenty of games have a lower price during early access and increases the price once its close to being properly released. The lower price can be seen as a early adopter bonus.

ah another one of these threads.
Game just exists - THERE IS NO SALE
They have a sale - ITS NOT ENOUGH
Game gets additional content after years of development - PRICE IS TOO HIGH NOW

Have you seen the stunts Paradox Interactive, EA, or Keen Software House pull? They have done very nearly criminal things I would say, quite worthy of discourse. Rimworld I have to say has been very steady, stable and reasonable in this world full of madness.

Satisfactory has had continued updates and is now on sale. No DLC's. I don't mind DLC's but raising your price is an odd sales practice. Some of the dlc's have been pretty lackluster though, so they are still banking on that OG title price.

I suppose, that does make sense.

Tynan posted about the sales price multiple times a couple months ago. In the news section right here. Why don't you read it?

Increasing the price once the game is out of early access is normal.

Very normal, and isn't even really considered raising the price, the early access price is really a discount. So Rimworld has been $35 since it's real launch, and has never actually been increased in price.

Satisfactory says on the store page that the plan is to increase the price by the end of early access. Thank you for providing an easy counter to your own argument.

For reference, in 2015 I purchased Rimworld for $47.12 NZD. Right now, the price is $46.99 NZD, so it's actually cheaper than when I purchased it over 7 years ago.

Exchange rate was about 0.002 cents stronger when I bought the game, so it's not an exchange rate thing on my end.

Rimworld has never been less than $34.99 USD on Steam except for the rare sales, this most recent being the biggest sale ever at 20% off. Due to conversion rates and Tynan not adjusting for them in some countries, some people in those country were getting it for a bargain, but that ended when profiteering scalpers started abusing it.
Astasia Dec 30, 2022 @ 3:37pm
It was $30 on Steam during early access, and then like many early access games the price increased for release. People who supported the game early before it was finished got a decent deal compared to people who waited until it was done to buy. The most recent sale was 20% off, putting it below the original $30 EA price tag for the first time on Steam.

Yeah well that's all and good and stuff but this isn't a $35 game. Especially with all the DLC. And lets not stroke each other here, some of it sucks. The reviews are pretty clear.
