Where to find timber?

I have just started a new game and it seems all the vanilla structures need timber but i dont know how to make it ?
Anyhelp?

Medieval overhaul sounds like, should be a research for it, and then place the trestle which is under the production tab for the bill.

Only a small number require wood to build, most can use wood or something else.

Chop trees or Cacti.

If you are looking for wood, you need to cut down older trees. You will also likely have a small amount in the wild.

Don't worry if it looks like you don't have any, the game tracks what you specifically have in storage, not in the wild, but the builders can make use of the wild stuff too.

If you need specifically "timber" then that is a mod, and the mod will likely have some kind of lumbermill building to make it.

Vanilla is a difficult word around here, as the biggest mods are named "Vanilla expanded: xxx" So it could mean unmodded play, or play using those mods.

For most structures, you can r-click on the item, and choose the material used, so that may be another solution.

Ah its a bit goofy then, the tressle isnt buildable currently, some people seem to think you need to research it but the research bench costs Timber! I have the medieval overhaul mod. Can you get timber from just cutting down trees?

You get raw wood, which can get you the basics to then make the trestle (you can just put down a thinking spot for the starting research), but between you and me, just edit the starting scenario using the scenario editor, because it is a bit stupid that your people wouldn't know how to saw a plank from the get go.
