Journey to the ruined laboratory

I have some excellent mods, one of them sent me to the above where there is lots of mechanoid stuff. Do I have to do something like power it up or is it there just for resources?

Also on the place I landed at I have collected berries etc for the journey home. Do I load them onto my donkeys for me to eat on the way back to base? Or do I have to get the colonists to load them into their own inventories?

Can I use/eat anything stores on the donkeys?

On a location map your colonists cannot eat things held by the donkeys, but while travelling as a caravan they can. Most sites are just for looting.

Pretty sure that your pawns will eat meals and food from the inventory of pack animals when you are on a map. You don't need to have them dropped from the animals anymore, pawns will walk to them and grab food when hungry.

If you clear a site of all enemies you do not need to bother with loading up your caravan for the return trip.

Just reform the caravan from the world map and select the items or loot you want to take home with you. Your caravan will instantly load everything up and move out.

If you need to leave the map while enemies are still present. Then you will have to order your pawns to grab what they can before you go.

Yeah when you reform a caravan, it gives you the option to add or remove any items on the map that you have discovered. You can skip the time of them loading it all up.
