[SOLVED] My colonists don't haul animal corpses so I can't butcher
As the title says, I just cant butcher animals because I don't see any "haul corpse" selection. I tried many things but can't figure it out. Please help, what am I missing here? Also when I check the work part, it says all of my colonists including the 2 new one has 3 haul skill level. Is that the cause? So do I have to wait for a higher haul level character just to haul animals?

Solution: apperantly there were small red x markings on them and that forbids people from touching them. Just disable that and they can haul it.

if you switched to manual settings that is a priority setting, not their skill, hauling has no skill associated with it, only if they are able to do "dumb labor" in their traits. increasing its priority (1-4, 1 being highest) will make them do hauling before things to the left of it, that have lower priority.

** make sure the animal's corpse is not forbidden, your pawns cant interact with forbidden items.

** the "butcher" action also requires you to use a butcher table and add a bill to butcher creatures. and is forced by right clicking the table, not the corpse

Okay, so the "3" you're seeing isn't a skill level, as hauling doesn't have a skill level. You're looking at the priority list.

What the 3 means is that, once everything that has a 1 and everything that has a 2 has been checked/done by your pawns, they'll begin working at things in the 3rd priority.

You can manually change this (there should be a setting that allows you to manually change priorities) and you can set one of your colonists to prioritize hauling things.

Now, there is an exception - a very select set of personalities will not haul at all, no matter what. They're the "holier than haulers" essentially, and they're useless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so one or two of your colonists may fall into this category.

Anyway - I'd actually recommend considering setting manual priorities for everyone (placing your best shots in hunting, your fastest miners in mining, your less useful people in hauling/cleaning, etc.) and continue adjusting this as more people join.

Ultimately, you should also be able to click one of your pawns then right click on the corpse and force them to immediately haul it for you.

Edit: And, yes, make sure the corpse doesn't have a small red x on it - anything with this will never be hauled, as it's "forbidden."

select the colonist and click on the butcher table instead of the animal and select prioritise butchering. butchering derives from the cooking skill.

Okay I figured it out. So appearantly there is a REALLY small x marking on the corpes and it forbids people from touching it. I don't really know what is it for but it drove me crazy..

Thanks for all the helps, looks like the problem was really small lol

Hauling is one of the lowest tier if the task is on auto instead of manual. Sometimes the colonist just refuse to do it. The fastest way to have your colonist do it is to:
1. make sure your colonist has unrestricted access to the map
2. make sure the corpse is not forbidden or has an "x" on it
3. make sure your colonist does not fall due to exhaustion on the way or on the way back
4. enable the hauling skill and select that colonist and right click over the corpse

Basically any animal that dies outside of your homezone is marked as forbidden by default.

This is not true only when a hunter of yours directly kills it. This means if he shoots it and it later dies of blood loss, it is marked forbidden. Hunter needs to kill it directly and then it will be auto hauled by the hunter.

The reason this is done is so that you don't all of a sudden have your pawns going all over the map hauling things in possibly dangerous situations without you having OKed them to do it.

Else, any time one animal kills another you may be walking into a bad situation that you had no part in asking for.

there should be a storage button similar to stockpiles, which allows you to configure what is allowed in the graves.
