How to handle injuries and sickness
Greeting!

I would love some tips and how you're handling sickness and wounds, how sever should it be before you keep them to bed, and about injuries, like gold gun wounds and such, are they treatable or their there to stay?

Also i've started with the rich son mode, so i only have one characther so far, and hes down with the flue, i have medicin but can't select it.. how do i make him use the medicin? or cna it only be applied by others?

He cannot medicine himself.

The colonist with the medical enable skill with automatically pick them up to heal the sick colonist. Try growing some healroot crops to be use as medicine, if you are running low on medicine. Make sure you have at least 2 colonist with medical skill enabled.

edit:
added: in some mods there is synthetic skin that heals damage to torso injury if can't be healed or remove a limb and put it back can remove the injury. Do not tary at putting it back or your colonist will get a penalty in mood for harvesting a limb.

As the other person said, a sick colonist can't give themselves treatment.

Starting with just 1 character has only been possible since this latest Alpha 14, so you've probably uncovered a gameplay issue that needs to be fixed by the developer.

Since you start with friendly relations to atleast one faction, it would been good if you could "buy" services from said factions, or ask if you're really good pals.

Such as having their doctor come and have a look at you, or request protection if your being raided etc.

While i got another NPC now, i actually kind of like being just 1 guy, with the dog, running a hunting cabine :)

Always treat, Never leave alone. You just asking for infections and bigger headaches. Get herbal medicine farm up and running. Always have a dedicated doctor (and few "Doctor assistants"), higher level the less headache you have. Save your Medicine for epidemics/plague and other infections that can kill you fast. If you don't have someone to treat the person with illness... /gg lol

Dosn't help much when you're starting with 1 guy :P
Thus you should be able to rreat yourself with reduced effeciently, or atleast get some help from the other friendly tribes somehow :P
For sickness it would be best at the start ot have a 1 room for prisoners/sick people, and have make a level 1 priority doctor and a level 2 doctor so if the best doctor is well sick. This will allow you to keep almost everyone up. I'll also say after getting a starting farm up try and add herbal medicine to farming since with this you can craft rather nice medicine for use and later on medicine of higher grade.

Problem is not how to handle the sickness, it's how do you handle sickness/injury when the mode gives you a single characther, whom then naturally cannot heal himself.

it would be ideal if Characthers could heal themselves with medisin, at a 50% loss effecienty, to atleast basic bandage themselves, aslong as they pick up a bandage and it down in their bed, thou they would do this only if theres no medic around (other colonist wth doctoring enabled).

It would atleast give you a decent work-around.
