Overhead Mountain and Thick Roofing as Mortar Protection?
As them nasty Siege guys show up regularly, I wonder whether either of these thingies above help against getting plastered from afar. Also, will both of them together offer better protection? Thanks in advance.

Overhead mountain will stop mortar shells and drop pods, it is classed as thick roof and is the only vanilla thick roof. Rock roof (thin) and constructed roof offer no protection at all.

The downside of using overhead mountains to prevent mortar attacks and drop pods, is that you're then exposed to infestations, which IMO are far more difficult to deal with. Mortars are easily dealt with by using sniper rifles, and drop pods, assuming you've got people nearby, can be easily dealt with by just surrounding them and attacking right away.

Give me infestations any day of the week. Siege? I *love* siege.
You know they are going to stand around in a tight cluster just begging for a coordinated 8-mortar attack.

But drop-pod raids are impossible to predict.

Just had 3 mech drop-pod invasions in a row, only 1 day apart. I *think* the first two were technically the same day (early morning, then that same night again)

Yes, i killed them. just 3 scythers and 2-3 lancers each time.
But they *trashed* my research lab where they first landed.
Then, as my people were still getting bandaged in the hospital, they landed there and trashed that. Including my entire stockpile of real medicine. Guess I'll be doing that liver transplant with chewed-up wampum root today?

The third attack hit my art storeroom, and trashed that completely. Lots of lost revenue, but no biggie. Replaceable, unlike that stack of glitterworld meds they stepped on earlier.

And yes, from mow on my researcher and toolmaker will both carry EMP grenades as default weapon.

I am running the thick roof-mod thingy, so I thought visitors through the roof were a thing of the past.

Dealing with infestations is sooooo much easier then dealing with Siege IMO.

I just make sure that every room can be sealed and torched....

I wish there was a way to remove the Overhead Mountian Thick Roof. Cause I go to use something that produces alot of heat and the heat stays inside even without a roof becuase the mountain roof is still there but no way to remove it.

Heat can be dispersed by building a larger room. smaller rooms generate heat faster. But heat is good. Helps plants grow, as well as making effective traps to lure in raiders and disable them with heatstroke. Or just simply burn them to death.
