It's just more risky ^^
@Dr.Desty Nova: Whenever I try to do surgery with only herbal medicine in stock it says "need material" to do the surgery...
"needs materials"
Stupid Yorkie got into the beer supplies.
Thus spake the wiki:
"Any doctor can perform most types of surgery (excising carcinomas requires 10 medical skill), and herbal medicine is the minimum required medicine for most surgical operations, although it's not advisable to use herbal medicine in surgery unless you have an exceptionally good doctor. "
You might also want to know "It's not the best idea to excise cancerous growths using ordinary medicine due to its 0.7x success factor and 25% death chance on failure"
you can do most operations with just Herbal medicine.
The success rate is just a bit sucky.
A L20 doctor doing field surgery with just Herbal, will have less than 50/50 chance for success.
If that surgery is removing a cancer, drop that another 30%.
A L5 doctor... would not be advised.
Some specialized surgeries, such as the cancer removal you require, needs at least real medicine. With glitterworld meds *strongly* advised.
Ok I see. I mean even if the succes rate was only 20 %, that would still be a 1 time out of 5 succes rate. I don't lack colonists, and the cancer is really slowing them down in their daily tasks and not as useful as fighters also. Worst case, the necromancer's gonna bring them back to life
I guess there's also no mod that allows trying to cure cancer with love 'n air? :D
That should be a character trait.
Naturopath: Will refuse to use or receive any medical treatment above Herbal.
Nothing would drive home the importance of evidence based medicine like a giant mound of misshapen corpses produced by a Rimworld naturopath.
