1 small house/room per colonist/couple or one big room with all the colonists?
Is it better to have a big room with all of your colonists in so it is easier to keep tabs on beauty space and the rest whilst having the shared bedroom debuff or is it better to keep them all in seperate rooms (using more resources that you might not have)

Yes I know you almost have to have them all in one room on the first day otherwise they sleep outside or get extemely cramped because of the time limitations of building rooms but when would or should I start getting them their own set rooms?

Keeping them all in one room generates debuffs both for:

Shared bedroom: continuous debuff as long as pawn is sharing a room

Disturbed sleep: stackable dengue for every time someone moves near pawn while sleeping

Their own room also gives the opportunity to receive nice bedroom buffs as well as a place to meditate or pray- joy activities.

So, if I give them all seperate rooms then they will have the chance of getting extra buffs and joy?

Correct, plus fewer debuffs.

Ugh-autocorrect messed up- Dengue=debuffs

How do you get dengue from debuff? :)

Anyway, I keep them in one big room until I have individual rooms ready. As each room is prepared I offload one person over to it, usually whomever is the unhappiest at that point.

Also, colony design matters to keep those sleep interruptions down. Don't put 2 doors in your bedrooms as someone will path through it on their way somewhere else, and don't put a stockpile or pet bed in a bedroom that others may access.

Lol, dunno have to ask the geniuses over at Apple.

As far as rooms go, I usually do exactly the same as you.

I think Apple word correction is actually a thought experiment run by the CIA to insert tracking words into our text conversations.

I build extremely tiny bedrooms (1x2 for single, 2x2 for a couple). They're only big enough for a bed. Collectively, these tiny bedrooms take up the same space as a barracks, but you avoid the "shared bedroom" and "disturbed sleep" debuffs. The "cramped space" debuff disappears as soon as a colonist wakes up and leaves the bedroom, so it's not an issue.

They more happy (or less unhappy) in an individual 3*3 than in a shared 50*50.

Of course, when you start, you do with what you can, that is why there is this huge mood buff.

The first thing I do with a new colony is build them each a room. The disturbed sleep debuff can stack pretty quickly and if your facing other challenged like extream temp, low food, large amounts of mining, you want to make sure their not going to snap in the first week.

So, extemely tiny bedrooms are the way to go is what im getting from this, but what if there is a cold snap or it is winter and therefor the rooms get extemely cold, what would you do then with the 1x2/2x2 rooms

you need to look the sheet of each avatar, some people want beautiful room to be happy, some other avatar want to have a room such as a dump, so you mush make some beautiful room and some ugly depending of the character of your avatar, ect...

Because the rooms are 1x2 or 2x2, they're extremely easy to keep insulated. Enough heat (or cold) travels into each bedroom through their doors to keep them warm/cool. If you have a tiny room in the corner of the building where two walls touch the outside, you might need to build a "double" wall to keep the room insulated, but that's about it.

edit: I'm assuming the bedrooms are connected to a larger room that is heated or cooled (like a dining room). Small bedrooms out on their own will be extremely hot/cold, so yeah, connect the small bedrooms to a temperature-controlled building.
