Trained pet won't rescue..
I'm playing a permadeath colony and I got into a situation where I only have one colonist left. They went out to hunt but got attacked by a large group of casawarys and is laying in a field incapacitated. I have a huskey and an elephant both fully trained but they haven't rescued my colonist. I know it's kind of a moot point because they will die anyway since no one is around to doctor them but I would just like to know why the animals aren't doing what they are trained to do. Will they only rescue people they are bonded to or is there a bug or something else?

Do you have a bed marked for Medical purposes? Could also be that there are no other colonists assigned as a doctor, so they don't bother.

I think some one has to be around to order the pet to rescue...

Do you have the pets restricted to a zone?

I had 2 beds for medical and the animals were unrestricted. They came and hauled the fallen weapon and food away but failed to rescue my colonist. It could be that the colony is effectively dead at that point which I have issues with. If you have an animal able to rescue your last colonist you should have some chance to heal even if it's slim and comes with consequences.

This may be worth reporting on the forums, especially if you still have the save game.

Unless, of course, if Grish is right about only rescuing their master. I didn't think that was the case, but am not positive at all.

I have the same problem with fully trained pets in transport. they don´t transport anything. they just walk around. they are also unrestricted and in my stock is enough space. at the beginning of the game it worked. maybe its a bug with some mods?

Maybe that is it. The animals are not bonded. I know they don't have to have a master though. I generally don't allow that to keep them out of battle and I've seen animals rescue anyway. But they still could have been bonded. I never paid that close attention. I'll have to keep an eye on that an see if there is a pattern. If that is the case I will hold off training them in rescue until they are bonded.

Try making a new! animal zone near your colonist and restrict your pet to that zone and unrestrict it after it arrived .

Why in the heck would you have a bonded elephant following you around?

In the bed with your girl at 3am, hearts flying over your heads, and there's an elephant in the sleeping box over in the corner.

Animals basically do whatever they want, trained or not. Training just opens up options for them. Also, I remember reading somewhere that the in order for an animal to rescue a colonist that it has to be there master. Being your last colonist I assume that its there master but I don't know if it auto changes.
