You can make spots to access them in safety or you can just restrict people going through the traps and just make an alternate exit.
Doesnt seem like it works to have people get constantly near them...eventually someone is going to get hurt.
Only way is to restrict zone in this case (restricted zone can be only the traps)
Or use a setup like that (quite advanced into the game so a lot of traps, but you get the idea).
No colonist has walked into one since start and no restriction, but raids get destroyed...

It doesn't because traps can't be placed like that anymore. This thread is 5 years old and the mechanics have changed a few times since. If you could place them like that, perhaps with a mod, it works because colonists can walk diagonally between them without triggering them, while enemies can't see the exact position of traps even with trap memory and will still walk through a trap cluster and trigger them. If you imitated that pattern as much as possible with the current trap placement limitations it would still function reasonably well, though with a much lower density of traps and less damage done because of it (so you'd want to extend the entrance corridor).
