I like your hexagonal base.

do your colonist have bonus for their rooms?

and if yes how much is the average wealth of a room?

Yes, they have some permanent bonus, ranging from 1 to 3 (statues are not that good, in the process of remplacing all with superior and plus...).

Best bedroom is this one http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=745036666

Now, when they sleep, they all extremelly happy with tons of bonus.

yeah with all that statues and the wood, its definitly a lategame thing. Maybe i will build some impressive bedrooms. but they also increase the number of enemys. Do you know what your overall colony wealth is?

Tribe start on extreme: you will have problem getting more ppl. On a normal extreme start i have a 20+ pop after 120 days. But with a Tribe.... Because of this im taking prisoners in solo room.s

You can check in statistics.

And, yeah, nice things and all are lategame, first is survival.

Keeping base clean is early game beauty.

My fave base so far, have devoted a lot of colony years now on a fools quest for the mythical "wonder of the world" impressive dining room. I'm starting to think maybe the room is just too small to fit everything I would need into it hehe.

And that maybe having a party in one of the rooms insect hives like to spawn in isn't the smartest idea, could be fun though...

How do you guys avoid early infestation game-overs with all those mountain bases?

Don't graves count as partial cover?

Personally, I just build according to need rather than any pre-design beyond the most general one - keep the critical structures internal, minimize general interruptions in workflow, GET DAT POWER! from geothermal vents...

if you get the infestation alert, pause the game (or toggle auto pause option on alerts)
position / spread out your pawns in several doorways.
shoot the bugs and hide behind doors if they attack you.
you can click on each bug to see which pawn they will attack.
makes kiting easy.
so you can ping-pong-aggro them around with just 2 shooters in 2 seperate doorways.

you just need to instant pause the game to have enough time to get setup
and second, dont build to small corridors, at least 2 tiles wide, makes things easier.

bugs spawn always most far away from your base middle. sometimes they spawn in sleeping room and kill instant a colonist. i personally use fire. make a inclosed room, and set some conduction at fire. or place all my heaters there.

also my normal base design have long easy to defend connection floors.

Cassandra Rough, Permadeath, Mountains, Tundra, entered the 3rd year. Plenty of disasters but going strong. Tons of fun. No beer yet, which is the really sad part.

Melee is also very helpful for bugs. I have a single animal trainer that essentially deals with my insect infestations solo surrounded by a pack of huskies. Granted the damn bugs have a habit of cutting off hands and feet...

Once in mine mineshafts bugs getting out of controll.
either i let them life or kill them. Killing was not successfull, because they are to much and it takes a few day. so i decided to heat up the area. some wire installed, i burned them. temp goes over 150°C. after 3min it was over.
