My colonists won't put certain items in the stock pile.
Hey there. I just started playing the game, and I've got a tone of questions. One of them being this:
I've made a stockpile indoors, and has allowed storge of all items. I've also enabled colonists to interact with weapons, clothings, medicines and killed animals. However, the colonists would not move the medicine and the dead animal corpses into that stockpile area.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Thanks for the help :D

Probably because there is a red cross on the items.

It means colonists cant interact with them.
You have to allow interaction.

I have an area designated for lumber only and they aren't stockpiling that either. I have stuff lying around without a red cross they just aren't picking up, a lot of clothes and some weapons.

Digging out the corpses of the already long deads.
To survive .
No food.

I've allowed interaction already in the beginning. That's why it confuses me so much. They would pick up everything and put them to the stockpile, including wood and steel, but not the medicine.

Then you can try

Make sure storage zone is in home area
Make sure it accepts all (with option) and any quality / %health and there is room to store stuff
Up the priority of the zone (normal is defaullt)
Put all colonists to haul priority 1 for a while
Force a colonist to haul item
Create another small indoor storage zone only for medical stuff with priority critical

From Ficelle's post above....

"Force a colonist to haul item" - this is the best way to find out the problem, you at least have the chance of an error message/reason this way.

Just to add, not totally related but could be part of the problem.

Never play with automatic priorities, always manual (1 is highest...)

Haul is very down the line, and in automatic, colonists wont bother to haul anything before almost everything else is done.

Basically the best way to go about it if you want a bunch of stuff hauled is go into the work tab on the bottom and put someone's hauling or all at 1 and they will immediately start doing what you want. I found that manual control is much better for just about everything if you want things done immediately.

Thank you all. I have the problem solved following your instructions. :D
Also thanks for the tip! It's very helpful.

Is this also a bug? Because I have a lot of hours in the game and I already know to avoid these mistakes and sometimes they just won't use a stockpile zone. I even try to get them to do it manually and they simply won't do it 'No accessible storage'. Seems to happen strictly with food storage. I even made sure to have all the ingredients etc. included (as if that should matter) and they still won't use it. However if I put those exact items into any other storage (be it my stone/wood, corpse or weapon/apparel storages) they will use those. Very annoying because I just wanna be able to store food near the kitchen. I also tried putting the storage outside of the home incase that was the problem and that didn't solve it either.

Did you make super small storages and maybe someone was already bringing stuff to that storage, thus aiming to fill it and nobody else could then carry food there? Or did this happen with big food storages? Never had an issue like this.

For food you have to make sure "allow fresh" is ticked on the filter, and also remember that food in a prisoner room will not be hauled out by your colonists.
