What kind of settings should I use on my next game?
First game I went with the Crashlanded Scenario with Phoebe Chillax as the storyteller on Base Builder difficulty. Made it nearly two years before dying, but I managed to learn the basics. Are there any good custom scenarios or mods you'd recommend? I can't seem to get into the Rich Explorer or Lost Tribe scenarios. Thinking of doing custom but don't want to make it too easy. Also, what kind of colonists should I get and how many?

If you want to ramp up the difficulty, then I would suggest going with Cassandra Classic and Rough. It's a decent sized leap from Phoebe and Basebuilder. I would still stick with the Crash Landing for now as you've learned the basics on the easier side of things but you might not be ready for some oddities brought by custom scenarios.

In addition, you might think about switching the biome that you were in. If you started playing in one that was relatively easy compared to some of the others, mainly the temperate forest, maybe it is time to branch to one of the more difficult ones like the desert or tundra as temperature will be a bigger issue in those two.

Okay I guess I'll go with this.

Depends on what you want/like. I went with a Chillax/Freeform, which makes raids laughably easy, but I started with a single tribal survivor in a tundra setting. Makes for a pretty epic first year where you must prioritize intelligently and be careful or you will die quickly. Then, once the colony was established and it started to get too easy, I upped the difficulty.
