Keeping Up With All The Dead Animals
I myself can't stand seeing all the little dead animals lying around dead and rotting away. So I do the following.

50x50 dumping area set off in one corner of the map for animal corpses.
Butchering table set up to utilize all that free food and leather.
Prioritize "Handle".

These are the things I do and yet I still can't seem to keep up with keeping the map clear of all the dead animals. No other work gets done because there is so much butchering that needs to be done.

Anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it? As of now I only have 3 survivors. Building a second table for butchering and then will just wait till more survivors join to see if that helps with the work load.

Why are the animals dead? If you're hunting them then make sure you have animals marked in your stockpile, not rotting of course, not dumping stock.

I have butchering set to always and I don't seem to have a problem. Animals that are dead and rotting, just leave them to decay.

dont kill so many animals you dont need that much food for 3 people.
if they are dying to some other event just leave them the bodies will go in time and new animals will appear

Sounds like you are hunting ALL the animals on the map for some reason. Don't do that, just take what you need.
A lot of animals die from being hunted by other animals or just because they aged. I usually don't spend time scouring the map for bones but if I happened to see one I'd just click the x so a colonist can collect it when they have time. Good corpses go into the freezer and keep until I get to them. Then I'd have a 8x8 stockpile close to my cemetary dedicated to rotting animals, so when I get a crematorium it's simple to burn the bodies. Also, if you have a pack of animals trained to haul things you don't have to waste manpower on hauling all of the bones since the animals will do it for you. Wild bores are pretty good for this. They don't hunt other animals adding to the problem and they breed like crazy so you can sell them for money or butcher them for meat when you need it. I wouldn't be OCD over collecting corpses though since A. they rot away to nothing and B. more animals die everyday so there are always new corpses. But if you absolutely have to I would just focus on getting a crematorium as soon as possible. Keeping up in the early game is still a pain though. You could also try hunting the animals such as bears and wolves that kill other animals for food. That should lessen how many animals are dying too.

I knew I should have put the fact in there that I am not hunting. 4-6 creatures are killed daily by Cobras and Panthers and I don't know what else.

SOunds like a rough map. Only found a few dead animal bodies and i usually get to them before they rot. You need to go kill the predators that are killing the animals.

I presume you're in a tropical forest map? Panthers and snakes seem to be more "dangerous" then wolves or cougars in temperate forest, haven't played much tropical forest so idk if this is correct? By having more temperature the corpse decaying should be more faster aswell

Yes, tropical map.

A 2nd butchers table and 2 more wanders have helped ease the work load. Also now actively hunting cobras. Don't think it is safe to take on a panther yet.

Anyway, I have managed to keep up now. I thought it was important to clear area of dead stuff to minimize diseases.

Cool, yeah heard that the malaria and other diseases are a lot more frequent at those maps, I didn't had much disease besides stomach worms and it's treatment were always quick and clean, so the diseases aren't a big deal in temperate forests

Killing the Cobras doesn't help because new ones spawn as fast as I kill them. So it isn't worth the risk of getting survivors killed by a snake bite.

I'm Playing a Tropical Forest Map right now as well. Predators only kill when they're hungry. If they have a fresh kill laying around they will go back to nosh on it. You're stealing their kills causing them to kill more.

That's not a problem, but if you have enough meat, stop collecting their kills.

I have been harvesting the panthers because they can be fast and deadly and it's better to kill them when they stray near my camp than have one attack me out of the blue. I generally use a few drafted troops to accomplish the kill (Or do a hit and run thing where I shoot at them and then run inside and let my turrets take care of the problem)

Not convinced letting the kills lie there would limit on how much they kill as I have seen 3 kills in same area from 1 snake.

BTW... your colonist don't get upset seeing dead animals the way they do dead humanoids.

So chickens entered the map and of course the Cobra snakes went after them. This angered me and I set out to hunt all the snakes. Guess what? I killed them all and no more have spawned in a few days. There is also no more dead rodents lying all over the place. Luckily I have my farms up and running now providing lots of food. I have 2 survivors set up to hunt local game. The panthers eat most if not all of what they kill so we are letting them live for now.
If I am forced to kill people or animals that aren't extremely far away from my town, I dump them in "The Shi theaps," the narrow passes that provide access to the town. All the bodies and rock chunks slow down anyone approaching through the pass, making them easier targts for gunners in the sandbag emplacements at the end.
