No Components
So I used all my components on stuff, and no matter how much I mine I cant seem to find any more compacted components, and the production thing that lets you make components, requires components to make. Now further advancements require components and things are starting to break down that I now cannot fix.

Do I just have to mine out the whole map looking for more compacted components? Traders never seem to have any either

I think it's easier to buy them or research the component assembly workbench

As i stated above, traders nearly never have them, and the component assembly bench requires components to build, so I cant make it. Still stuck.

buy them in bulk whenever you can. If you dont have a communication array(?) (console(?)) and an orbital trade beacon deconstruct stuff until you have enough to build them and hope for some space traders. Assembly bench is useless unless you want to wait for hours irl until it makes back the amount of components it takes to build.

You already dismantled stuff to get some components back?
Steelwind Aug 5, 2016 @ 3:16pm
I buy them whenever I see them even when I have plenty. Also, did you get your orbital trading up before running out? That would help a lot.

I made the beacon but I didnt make the console, ran out of components lol. Only things I have around with components in them are batteries, wind turbines, solar panels, heaters and coolers. All of which I need to keep the temperature controlled or the settlement up and running.

*Edit:

Just ran into a trader that had 4 components, just enough to build the trading console thing. Hope I get some space traders.

They'll come. Make sure your silver (and all the crap you want to sell) is in the beacon's stockpile.

Got 8 so far, was enough to finish the geothermal power station and repair the broken down crap. Luckily building my base in the mountain I hit a large vain of plasteel. That stuff sells for a pretty penny.

But you need a ton of it if you plan to leave the planet. :p

Sell art and replenishables like food, wood, skins, etc if you can. Livestock sells for quite a bit too if you find the right trader.

Selling all your plasteel is setting yourself up for another problem later as it's even harder to find.

Yea I dont plan on selling it all, just some. Got 831 of it in just the one vein.

I dunno if I do. I play this game just to see how large and how long i can run my settlement before it falls apart. If I can get there, great but its not my main goal really.

you can also stripmine the mountain to get every bit of resource out of the map.
