Tips for gear management?
I'm having a blast, but managing gear is the area where I'm finding it the least intuitive or useful. I do like that I can configure outfits, but it's not very useful when it comes to handling gear upgrades.

One problem is that to check the effectiveness of gear, I have to click the "i" button on items one by one. I think it would be really convenient if some of that information was made faster to view, like showing some select stats in the bottom-left info window when initially clicking an item (under where it says "Quality: " has lots of empty space).

Another issue is with gear upgrading. If there is a piece of gear in storage better than what they're wearing, they don't ever go and upgrade on their own. The only option I've seen has been to "force" them to wear something, which I think kind of goes against the entire outfit system.

I have seen that the outfit system has a quality slider, but if gear is beneath that quality, they take it off. It would be nice if the outfit system had options for "upgrade to best gear", and maybe a set of options to say what the priority is. Like the "soldier" outfit can have a priority on Armor, while a worker outfit could prioritize insulation.

Anyone have advice for crafting & managing gear? I've been using "craft until you have x" to help with resupplying stuff as I equip or sell them, but I've been getting quite a bit of poor/awful filling up my space, and it's tedious knowing which ones are upgrades to what people are already wearing and which ones aren't. I know Bills can let me set required skill, but I'm already using the Work window to make sure my best crafters are the ones doing the crafting.

If you're not adverse to using mods from the official forums, then you'll want to try out AutoEquip. It allows colonists to automatically equip gear according to how better it is compared to their current equipment.

You can find it here: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=20771.msg228262#msg228262

I feel like the devs are waiting for modders to handle the tooltips and management problems while they work on more important stuffs. I know this is an alpha, but so much of the micromanagement is more tedious than it should be.
