Yayos combat might be what youre looking for, but iirc CE has an entire subreddit you might have better luck with, specifically for fixing your issues.

CE is a game all its own, after all.

I perused the reddit and other areas. It just seems sometimes people can't get pawns to rearm / pick things up unless they remove ALL of their work orders, disable every task for them to do and then click the rearm button. That gets to be tedious and not worth it for me.

I did stumble upon Yayo's combat but it seems there are some issues with that one too until it gets patched / sorted out. Was really hoping CE would work smoother. I wish they had a task for CE's rearm / reloading and didn't just put it low priority. So you can max it to 1 so pawns will focus on rearming / reloading before anything else.

Late game when tons of raids are coming and your pawns won't stock up it gets to be too tedious and hard. Had pawns running out I thought had restocked (clicked rearm) and then they get out to the bunker and "OUT OF AMMO OUT OF AMMO OUT OF AMMO" spammed above their name. Well looks like you'll be charging the enemy today with no ammo and only a gun. It's just like Stalingrad all over again.

Well, thats what happens when you have a massively reaching mod that breaks every tuesday and takes six days to patch.

Gunplay + Yayo combat + Enhanced Combat Sounds (when it gets updated) is a much liter way to overhaul combat than CE with a similar effect.

Yayo has a new armor algorithm and built-in ammo system that are both toggleable in options, and all new combat animations, without dramatically overhauling the range and damage of all weapons.

Gunplay let's you modify bullet speed and some other things.

And Enhanced Co.bat Sounds samples lots of weapons and explosion audio from games like CoD and battlefield.

I was waiting a while to play again until mods caught up to 1.4 and it seems like that's a good decision from what I've read. CE works perfectly on 1.3, set up what weapons and ammo type and it works fine. It's a common problem with mods when games do updates/patches. I think vanilla has infinite ammo and no ammo types (AP, HE, etc) so I'm still waiting until everything catches up.
