The one thing pawns do that drives me NUTS
Who runs around with spoilable meals in their pockets all day!? WHY would you run around with a spoilable meal in your pocket all day? Especially when you hate eating without tables. Yet pawns grab a meal, carrying it in their pockets for hours, and then eat it on the other side of the map from the table. And the only way to stop them is to forbid all food until they're hungry.

The only logical reason I can see for this is that Tynan wanted to make pawns eat without a table all the time and therefore perpetuate the joke that eating without a table is a war crime.

I mean, it makes sense to pack a bagged lunch if you're out logging or picking berries or something. But when you sit around the research room all day and only stick your head out to eat, play horseshoes and complain about how you feel cooped up inside and the fridge is right next to you, it's a little questionable.

Honestly the -3 from "ate without a table" is vastly preferable to conlonists consistently walking across the entire map, deconstructing 1 wall/cutting 1 tree/building 1 power line, then walking all the way back to eat.

If you really want to see it in action, rock a nutrient paste dispenser. Colonists will never take a spare meal, unless you manually create extra paste.

Kinda feel like the -3 ate without a table shouldn't happen unless they haven't been able to use a table for two consecutive meals. It's totally normal not to eat lunch with a table, just ask construction workers, or people who are outdoors or on the road a lot.

So they don't suddenly walk back to your base from the other end of the map just to eat food after spending half a day to grab the 4 pieces of steel that were left there without even grabbing them.

My pawns especially love grabbing a meal before they go to bed. Do they plan on sleep-eating or something?

Honestly makes me think they're doing this to be greedy. "MY next meal is assured. Eff that other guy."
"That other guy is your husband."
"Yeah, eff him."

Ya, I mean what kind of monster makes their kid a bologna sandwich and sticks it in their unrefrigerated backpack where it sits for several hours before being eaten. What a cruel and unusual practice, this "packed lunch" nonsense.

I don't know what all is in their meals exactly, but like 1/2 of America don't even have a dining room, forget a dining room table.

Guess we are all just walking around with a permanent-3 lol

I typically still eat while at some kind of surface, usually a desk. The table is for holidays, or the cat most of the year.

I still eat at my desk, which has a surface.

What I want to know is why they're supposedly eating the meal off the floor. There is clearly a plate visible on top of some sort of tray in the item texture, and yet they're complaining about eating off of the ground like some kind of animal. Can't you just... I don't know, eat it while standing? I did that while volunteering once. Wasn't that inconvenient... lol

Am I the only one who's ever cuddled with a fresh-from-the-oven pork roast on a cold night? Really?

I once disabled the feature of colonists putting meals in their pockets. The result was an accidental Great Leap Forward which they often times suffered malnutrition and reached major break threshold as a result.

So they often went in psychotic daze or bedroom tantrum while out alone and getting mauled by grizzly bears and cougars. Still, becoming malnourished and being eaten alive by a kitten is a preferable outcome than eating without a table.

I remember there was a mod called something like "Its Called A Picnic!" That gave you a buff for eating without a table lol

Don't know if it's 1.4 updated though

I have played with No Carried Food for years and never had this problem. Maybe once in a blue moon someone would go to bed without eating, but most of the time it was my fault someone was starving. (Didn't pay attention to food stocks, left someone doing prioritized work too long, etc.)

Meanwhile I've had instances where I let the food stock get too low and one person was starving because everyone else was hoarding the freshly cooked meals in their pockets...
