Any real reason to help random visitors?
Always getting these random factionless groups asking for medicine. Is there any real benefit to helping them?

There are random events that can trigger later in the game where these pawns reappear and offer items, silver, or to join the colony because you were kind enough to help them.
If you have the Charity precept, yes. Otherwise, not really. Many people seem to use them for target practice or slavery targets instead.

It was said they might have an extremely low chance of rewards (compared to refugees) in the past, but apparently even that was removed in exchange for capping their requests at 700 silver worth of items.

I arrest the ones I like, convert them to my religion, and talk them into joining my colony. Helps them in the long run a lot more then whatever random thing they are asking for. Now, granted, some of their less interesting, vagrant buddies might get a bit shot up in the process, but the gains are worth it to me.

Good way to dump wealth and if you have ideology your ideoligion might be impacted by charity in some form.

If I start out naked. I let them die on the map, take their clothes and bury them.....

Other than that, they make useful slaves, so I work them to death and then take their "stuff", and sometimes depending on their bio, can help you obtain your goals faster if you incorporate them into your colony...

If they are the opposite sex, they are breeding material.

Only the strongest survive, as Odin would have it.

Explicitly no. They're there for charity. You can help them if their story pulls at your heart strings, but mechanically they will never give you anything.

You can help them out of the goodness of your heart, gaining the knowledge you did a good thing.

I mean, you do have goodness in your heart, right?

Oh crap, forgot which game we were talking about. Yeah, harvest one kidney and one lung from each, then give them two peg legs, remove said peg legs, and put them in a hospital bed as an eternal blood bag to feed your sanguophages or, if you don't have any, for export.

I do, but something tells me these guys are liars anyway.
"Help we need 64 herbal medicine to perform a life-saving surgery on a friend!"
"'64 medicine?! Most surgeries only take 2!"
"Uh... none of us have good medicine skill, so we might need to patch them up when we fail catastrophically...?"
"Then bring him here, lemme do it for free."
"We can't do that!"
"Why not?"
the beggars sweat nervously and then run away

I'm convinced they're using the herbal medicine for drug purposes...

It's okay, it's legal if they're taking it medicinally.

...Wait, it's a Rim world, there are no laws. So it's okay if they take it that way as long as they don't get caught by raiders, killed, and turned into chairs and meals.

Look at their traits and abilities - they can be a good source of colonists. Arrest the best of the group, and then recruit. It's one of the few times you can check out a prospective colonist before you take them on.

I generally give it to them if I have an excess of the item, or if they are groups of children asking for beer.

You're doing God's work. And by God I mean Bacchus.
