Make gas masks compatible with some helmets?
It doesn't make sense how gas mask, which only covers face, can't be worn with some hats that only is being worn on top of the head, like flak helmets.
I feel this addition will be useful AND good looking, while being fair, since late game helmets covers face and so can't be worn with gas masks.

Face mask can be worn with most headgear and provides less toxic resistance.
Gas mask can not be worn with any other headgear (except slave choker IIRC) and provides more toxic resistance.
Late game when you are using power armor you will have the detox lungs or relevant genes for immunity.

It's a trade-off for balance, it was obviously done intentionally so if you are asking the devs to change it that is unlikely to happen. There is probably already a mod that makes the adjustment though if you check the workshop.

I think specifically, the gas mask should be able to be work with the simple helmet, as it is the iconic pairing that people have seen throughout media. I do think that it would be good to be compatible with the flak helmet also, since it is supposed to represent an industrial era armor similar to modern day Kevlar.

Well, fair, but would it REALLY shake the balance? Besides - it's just a HUGE wasted cosmetic opportunity (in my opinion). Flak helmets and gas masks would look amazing combined.

I'm trying to keep my game mods-free, and I don't think it's really a game-changing addition. After all, you need to get those first, either through enemies, or crafting them. And that is considering you didn't get corpse-stained gas mask.

That's just my opinion tho.

Must admit this makes me skip them entirely. Who gets gassed so much they'd give up head protection? Is it just for cases when you really desperately want to live in a polluted tile without having the genes or bionics to do so?

That's the issue with most apparel in RW, none of it ever gets used.

If it can't be worn with armor, it might as well be removed from the game, same goes for all the mandatory clothing for certain roles in certain ideologies, you're better off never selecting any of them.

It's odd that this was never addressed though, there's no reason why clothing like a robe, tunic, cape, or some head gear couldn't be used with some armor, even power armor.

Any minor crap viable during naked brutality run, tribal clothes have saved me from heartstoke million times, but once time passes they become obsolete, like 90% goes to useless classification

I dont know why devs made em nonstackable with helmet.
Making decision Flack+Mask or cataphract helmet looks good, however at this very moment these gas masks are very dangerous to use in combat. First fight my colonist had a headshot with brain scar.

So iam using a mod that allows Flak Helmet + Gas Mask. I mean, iconic duo.

Nothing wrong in wanting base game having good QOL.

After all - they did improved shelves and added fully customizable light color to base game.

I see no issues with making gas mask and these two helmets compatible - they don't really give a lot of protection, and you need to get/buy/craft the gas masks first. Not guaranteed that you'll strip some wasters off them before they die.
