Growth vats Growth moments?
Hi, do colonists being grown in a vat still get growth moments? Or do I have to take them out? How much is the penalty for not getting their "learning" need?

In order: Yes, at ages 3 (keep as colonist or enslave), 7 (trait/passions), 10 (trait/passions), and 13 (trait/passions/"adulthood").

No you don't have to remove them. At 18 the vat spits them out automatically.

Instead of getting to choose between 1-5 traits and 1-3 passions a vat baby might get one trait choice and no skill passions. Skills will also be lower for vat babies.

They are basically trash pawns if you grow them entirely in a growth vat.

That said, having easy access to quickly (relatively) grown disposable trash pawns can be useful (and they can become decent with a good xenogerm).

But for you core pawns you likely do not want to vat grow them during their learning phase.

Here are the offspring from my last game. They were all raised outside of a vat.
They all turned into god pawns, basically by the time they were 16.

I literally did nothing special to raise them except give them a gun as soon as they turned 3 and then put them on 100% Anything schedule except for sleep hours.
