With medicine and time. Make an extra area for the room of the infected to not let him walk around, restrict his time to all sleep and make sure he gets his medicine regulary.
Random event to get them.

i have them on 4 people at once. i doubt its random. and i can't restrict my entire colony to sleep.

Then restart or deal with it.
Yes they are random.
I have yet to see anything, from malaria to the flu, spreading from one to another.

When diseases appear, they will typically hit multiple colonists at once, and then that's it. They won't spread after that.

Gut worms, I believe, don't act like most diseases in that they don't have an immunity factor. They'll just go away by themselves eventually.

this disease is not that tragic, they dont need to stay all the time in bed.
let them work normally.
they will get treatment autoamtically every time.
if you see they get exhausted, tired, hungry or bad mood cause of the desease, just give them more freetime/sleeptime in the restrict tab.
only if they have flu/malaria i force themm all the time in the beds.

If you're not producing enough food to cover at least twice your colony's food requirements, you need to start - now. Any number of things can immediately shut down your food production which can be difficult to recover from. If you produce enough to cover twice your colonies need, gut worms won't make much of a dent in your store.

It's just one of those things that having a huge food supply protects against.

I did have a large supply. So i guess i'm alright. However, i just got mechanites in 2 of my colonists. Any info on them?

Well, according to the wiki, which may be out of date by now, it says that Gut Worms and Muscle Parasites take 5 medical treatments to cure, so 5 days roughly.

But Fibrous Mechanites and Sensory Mechanites will go away by themselves eventually (random timeframe), with or without treatment.

Feeling a bit envy - you able to get non-dangerous (gut) and even profitable diseases (mechanites), while I'm seeing only malaria and plague T_T

okay. some of the colonists have gut worms and mechanites which are both causing extreme levels of pain which is making people go mad lol
sleepy Aug 30, 2016 @ 12:47pm
How profitable? I'm new to this game.
corisai Aug 30, 2016 @ 12:48pm
This sounds like a time for some rec drugs.

UPD. As I'm remember - mechanites boosting manipulation skill. And it's affecting a lot of stuff - like operations, butchering profit and so on.

Mechanites can cause some positive effects at the cost of pain. Fibrous Mechanites improve manipulation, movement and blood filtration, while Sensory Mechanites improve senses.

And yeah, if they are suffering a lot of pain, start thinking about giving them some drugs to cope with it, like Smokeleaf (probably bad with Gut Worms as Joints increase hunger too) or one of the psychoid drugs.
