How to effectively use power switches?
I've tried looking around for this and can't seem to find much. How do you effectively use power switches to save power? How does this look in a base.

You need to plan out your wiring to use it effectively. It's a matter of convenience in exchange for more resources used for wiring. I personally use one to turn off defenses and the sun lamps. I can't be bothered to use them for all the other stuff.

The cool room which stores your perisable food has the highest priority.
Make sure you have batteries just for it and use switches to turn off power to everything else when not needed.

I only turn on turrets when I'm getting raided.

Untill now, I have just been a powerhog using no switches.. With enough batteries and powergenerators I have not had any extra problems with it. But sure, if you are for efficiency, switches and even seperate powernets for important things can be a thing :)

I've discovered you can individually turn off certain appliances, structures, or items. I guess switches are just for turrets and seperate grids.

The switches just allow you to easily toggle on or off groups of appliances. For example I have built a wholle underground hydrophonics farm turned off on standy (for a rainy day), but because I havent researched geothermal energy yet I saved it to avoid spamming my map with solar and wind farms.

I find 2 uses for them
1 - ( as everybody said ) Turning all turrets witha one click when being raided .
2 - in case something goes bad with electricity , for example short circuit , all of the power from conected batteries dies , so I have a separate battery room which is connected with the switch , so I have an emergency power stored in them , so incase a short circuit happens , I can just flick the switch and use emergency batteries till I solve the problem . ( just remmeber to keep the siwtch off , when emergency power is not needed )

I have sadly found that while you can install conduits in wall and across doors, you cannot put power switches in those same locations. Apparently they must be in otherwise unoccupied terrain. For this reason, my designs, which usual run power conduits along walls cannot be switched. Anyone else have this issue?
