How do i do this?

Ive expanded my home area, but you cant go beyond the map you see.

Yeah you can't leave the map, just as in every other game that takes place on one map.
Building a ship is the goal, the victory condition.

lol look at the anger and disdain in this comment.

Why have multiple biomes and ♥♥♥♥ in a game if your just going to low ball the player and refuse to allow them to expand?

It's not normal to not be able to expand. You can expand in Factorio. You can expand in minecraft. You can expand in Prison Architect which this game openly emulates.

Like theres an option to make the world map bigger but you can only see one tiny square. So why ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bother.

If the main goal is to leave why expand?

Why increase the world map size if it changes nothing?

Why defend stupid game design just to gargle the creaters balls?

When you pick your landing site, there's an "advanced" button that lets you pick the size of the map you're on. The biggest size is massive. Like it'll take your colonists a day or two to walk across the whole thing.

If that's too small, I want some tips from you on how you can fill up so much space.

Its not that its too small. Id like to actually use the snow biomes without landing on one.

Im not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the game. Its amazing. You guys need to stop being so defensive with me.

I get it, you want more then one biome per playable area?

I want multiple colonies, or rather just more options in general.

The game, as it is now, was worth 29.99 and I find it to be amazing. I'm just extremely bad at discussing things without coming off as a sarcastic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I merely think its wierd to give the player the option to make the overall world larger, when no matter how large the world is, you can only actively use about 1/100th of it.

Stating an opinion does not equal defending the choice in game design.

Thing is, wether someone likes the choice in game design is up to the individual.
I understand that you want to expand and I agree that it is possible in other (similar) games.

It may be added later during early access (though I dont expect it) or be doable through modding (no clue if it is actually possible for this game), or we may end up with a game where expansion is simple not possible.
If you disagree with that design choice it's perfectly fine, if that keeps you from enjoying the game I am sorry for that.

Personally, I do not mind the map size whatsoever, as the maps are plenty big to build and do whatever I want without running out of space at any point in time - though that be due to my playstyle.
I agree with Boxen though, given the stated goal of the game to escape the planet, there is no necessity to be able to expand your colony, as it serves no real purpose in view of the victory condition.
SolviteSekai Jul 20, 2016 @ 6:42pm
Stating the opinion that less choice is good purely to defend the games creator is meaningless.

The game should have as many options as possible to be the most successful as possible.

Regardless, calling me salty or whatever for wanting more room and resources in a building game makes whoever said it a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron.
SolviteSekai Jul 20, 2016 @ 6:44pm
There isnt much room for playthrough variance if the goal is always to do the least work possible to achieve the fastest avenue to a repetitive end goal.

I could stuff my colonists into tiny casket rooms and exploit the game systems to keep them happy in order to escape faster, and it wouldnt be fun.

If thats what you consider to be fun, purely winning, why the hell would you play a building game with so many options for purely aesthetic design and expansion?
