Eating raw ingreadients instead of meals?
Is there a way to stop this happening?

There are plenty of simple meals in the stockpile but my guy keeps picking up raw food and getting the negative mood effect because if it.

I'm having the issue too... Even when I put the only ingredients in the hopper for the nutrient paste dispenser, they still would rather pull the (raw meat/potatos) out and eat them instead. Very frustrating. Another game they were eating corn raw... I didnt mind as much since I had an overabundance of it and I guess it could be eaten raw but I had many prepared meals with meat in them. Berries make sense to a point as well.

I think it might have to do with the proximity of food; if there's raw food closer they'll eat that, but I'm not entirely sure. My colonists have been mainly eating the Fine meals I've been cooking, but every so often they'll head out to the cornfield and grab some that hasn't been put away yet.

It's a bug. I've seen it a few times too.

They'll also opt for raw a lot over meals, even when the food doesn't give them a debuff (like corn and berries).

Meals offer more nutrition (and, depending on the meal type, a mood buff), so the AI is supposed to go for them first.

I saw a few colonists digging in on a rotting deer corpse that had yet to be butchered.... they went sorta insane after that.

It seems to be a lot of people who have this are using a nutrient paste dispenser.

Note that colonists coosing raw berries and raw corn over nutrient paste is WAD and not a bug. Raw meat - that would be a bug, but I have tried but not been able to reproduce it. If you have a cook stove, and cook meals, colonists eat them as expected. Maybe somewhere in the files nutrient paste was made too repugnant.

Not me. Haven't used a paste dispenser in about four alphas.

Cannibalism? I remeber colonists refusing to eat meals for containing human meat. I'm just trying not narrow down logical things that could be causing it, as I have started 5 colonies since A14 and do not see this bug at all.

Nah never used the paste...they'll still decide to eat raw meat when there are fine and normal meals next to it

Nope. :/

Just using berries and rice to make simple meals. And it's not a constant thing, just random - most of the time, yes, they'll eat simple meals...

But randomly, they'll opt for berries instead, even when there's an unoccupied stack of simple meals nearby (I specify unoccupied, as I know it'll sometimes divert people if someone else is already interacting with a stack).

I even wondered if it had to do with cooking level, but I only have one person cooking.

That's WAD. Berries are a tasty food which give gluttonous joy, and may be picked over simple meals is the colonist joy is low.

I've never used the paste dispenser and on my current playthrough im not having the issue but on my last game it was really irritating and they did it all the time but i could never see a pattern.

I've noticed the animals will eat whatever they damn please if they have access to the freezers but i dont mind that
