Found this:
From hour 19 through hour 5 plants will rest during which time they will not grow regardless of the light level.

so, actually, sunlamps are useless for outdoors farming?
is that was modified in last update or it was before? because i can remember it (or i wasnt paying attention)

Pretty much yeah. If you are under the sun and can plant year round there is no need for them really. If you want a greenhouse for winter I suggest using solar panels only to power them so they A) aren't on your main power grid and B) don't run at night.

Beats me, I bought the game literally half an hour ago. =P, Haven't even played myself yet. =P
Just did a google search for your problem and that appeared. =)

That has to have come in with A14 or A13. I distinctly remember A11 having no problem growing stuff overnight, and pretty sure A12 didn't either.

It was A13 at the very most that that was introduced, I dont remember much about A 12 so I can't really comment on that, but I do know that in A13 plants rested during the nights

Wow that's a nice bit of advise! Cheers.

Do keep in mind that hydroponics grow faster so there can be a reason to do indoor farming. But yes they nerfed the sun lamps a long time ago and made it so plants only grow during the day.

Funny, my hydro farms seem to grow slower than outside.

The system was introduced in Alpha 10. You can see this by checking the revision history for the wiki page that was linked earlier in the thread to see when the section about plants not growing at night was added (dated 24th of April 2015), comparing this with the release announcements on the developer blog to see what was the most recent release at the time (Alpha 10), and looking more closely at the changelog posted with the announcement ("Rebalanced and reformatted plant ecology tunings to lengthen crop cycles and slow wild plant spread. Reworked plant growth in relation to light levels so plants can still grow slowly in dim light (e.g. tundra summers).").

So yeah. It's been like that for well over a year.

except for eclipses. I just had to put a light on some of my crops because I didn't alot enough food for winter and I cant wait for the eclipse to pass for my plants to grow.
