the tooltip for it says nothing about the season or growing temp, just that it needs 50% light. It has this constant 0% growth rate.
Im guessing having it in a dark room makes it 0% light. how do i get to 50% light? torches?
If you have a winter, plant it in spring as early as possible.
Building a plain lamp or a torch will give yo 60% light, which will NOT give you 60% growing speed but something like 10%. It's only 10% above the minimum. For growing it in winter, you need sunlamps (Architect>Misc). No other structure in the game consumes as much power (1600W).
No, it definitely takes over a season to grow. If you have year-round growing, then you are in the BEST environment for growing devilstrand. It takes a LONG time to grow... but one of the best resale values when made into clothes. (Also, excellent bonus properties on clothing).
it was getting to about 85% growth and just disappearing.
factors:
i had a ♥♥♥♥ load of chickens join my colony, i tried to watch carefully, but im not 100% sure they werent eating them
the planet was coated in toxic spores and it lasted for 6 days... mushrooms (along with ALL of the wild life just kept on disappearing/dying)
pro tip, when they are harvested, what icon do they look like? is it a mushroom or a sheet like cloth?
It is described as a silk producing mushroom, creates strong fabric but doesnt insulate from cold... Think strong spidersilk.
If for some reason you can't grow them properly, consider a premature harvest. (Orders>Harvest). You need plants over 66% grown.
