It's probably not easy, seeing how humans are pregnant for 9 months and small children need to be taken care of for 2-3 years in full and another 3-4 years with smaller stuff.
Few colonies last that long at the moment and if they did you probably wouldn't want your pregnant colonist to become slower and basically stop any hard work and after that someone has to take care of the newborn child - leaving you with one less worker for at least 3-4 years.
Well, seeing as how the Rimworld universe has advanced technology, it isn't too unlikely that there is some sort of pregnancy-accelerating Glitterworld drug.

we have growth stoping cryptosleep chambers, why not the opposite?
growth accelerating tubes.

In old times when thing were hard and with people like tribals, women worked up to delivery and went right back to work after. babies were carried in carriers while the mother worked and was working in fields by age 5. If thing were like you are saying we would not be here. Next generation would be the greatest success. They would be undistructable without mods and when the collony is detroyed the game would be over. otherwise the envaders would take them and they would live happily ever after. who knows, maybe they could be raised by wolves :)

the game i'm playing now i have a couple that have been married 13 years (colony is just over 14 years old) so it is not only entirely possible but also well within reason for Rimworld colonists to have children wich grow to become productive members and without maturation chambers or some other bs gimick especially if they can beggin doing small things early on then later they become cappable of more complex tasks

Ehm, there are aleady underaged pawns in the colony (minimun age of them is 16 and I saw them often) ... which you can disassemble or slaughter or cook or having sex with a 90 years old fat b.a.s.t.a.r.d called "The Boss" xD

They can make it simple "Child in the box" when he born. After that still in box without anything until he become 15 years. I think it's easy and simple.

women worked hard right up going into labor in history and its scientific fact that women who carry a babies with out complications have heathier babies the cases where women have miscarriages are usually women with health issues

I keep thinking of Bubba but with babies instead of shrimp...

"Baby leather duster, baby kibble, baby meat meal, baby skin armchair, baby corpse (rotting, deteriorating from being unroofed), baby death mood debuff, baby..."
Jesus this thread still going.

Cool a baby, a nice useless mouth i will have to feed for at least 10 years for him to be of any use (more than one stays on a map usually)

Better he gives an insane mood buff, because otherwise, he is just the next butcher table bill or sarccophagus resident.
Would take a mood debuff for death anytime over a useless mouth for my whole colony life.
We can use them as landmines, right?

1. Pregnancy and infant stage will take at least 4-5 seasons in game, taking most time of colonist and making her useless to player. And average length of game is several years, so major of us never be able to have any return from that child.

But it's in the "Might happen" pile :)

When ever someone with this level of complexity says they wanna do this properly, and since this game reminds me so much about Dwarf Fortress, I can't help but feel like hell has frozen over or if I should be realy, really stoked.
