I'm a mac user and searching for some instructions for the download process, everything I've found is detailed for pc and I'm having trouble understanding how to "unpack" the mod download and get it into the game?
Can anymore help?
Really hoping to see some engagement and answers on this thread :)
As for unpacking the mod.. It's a zip file. On mac's, you should be able to just double click it to extract it to the current folder it is in. So, move the downloaded file to the mod folder, and double click :)
In the case of Zetrith's Multiplayer zip file, it already contains the mod's main folder name, so nothing else should be needed. You can optionally delete the original Multiplayer.zip if you want, but RimWorld will ignore it.
For other mods, when it gets unzipped, you may get folders like: About, Assembles, Defs, Languages, Patches, Textures. If that happens, create a new folder for the mod (whatever you want), and move all of those into it. It just means that unlike the multiplayer mod, it doesn't contain the main mod folder (modders consider it their choice whether or not to include it - on PC, most apps let you extract to the current folder, or create a folder).
Note: I don't own a Mac.
I've now successfully downloaded the mod, situated the files in my game files, added the mod the the mod list in Rimworld, and launched the game into multiplayer mode with friends.
I found this link helpful for getting the mod added into the game file on mac OS. A.k.a after you've download but when you're trying to get the mod to show up in game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHbTfZ018OA)
And the video on this article does a great job of visually walking through how to host a game and add players and such, great article as well (https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-01-25-survive-space-together-with-this-rimworld-multiplayer-mod)
Zetrith's official website (where you get the download) is also full of helpful resources and FAQs
Hope these resources help someone else facing the same mac related challenges.
