FF doesn't work anymore
So, i just got a bug, where fast forward is not working for me anymore.
I played a little today and when I loaded a savefile from trying to reset the game to get the best outcome on my crafting with an inspired person suddenly the fast forward mechanic did not work anymore.
When I klick the button (or the shortcut key 2 or 3 on my keyboard) the game gets a little faster, but its barely noticeable and I feel the accompanied tiny lags makes it as slow as running on normal speed.
Since it started to rain I thought it might be an lag related issue, that the game could not handle the effect for whatever reason, even tho i have never had this kind of issue before, but now it ended and still the fast forward does not make the game any faster.
I have played my colony for a few in game years now and today I played like 2-3 hours already before the bug occured, so it most certaily has nothing to do with creating a new world.
I also did not add any mods to the map before starting again today, so i am quite clueless what it could cause.
Now, I downloaded the RuntimeGC-Mod and tried to delete all the unnessaceryly saved stuff, but even that is not helping at all.
Since i don't find any ansewer on my question anywhere by google searching it, i thought i might as well post it here.

I don't know if somebody can help me, but it would be nice to hear from anyone who maybe knows whats going on.

Obviously i restarted the game and my PC already, but that did not help either.

Just an idea - Is there a lot of "Dirt" (or similar things like blood, etc) on the map? (There are a couple of mods that wash it away with rainfall as it can get to be an issue after awhile. I'm using [FSF} Rain Washes Away Filth.

How big is your map? Number of Pawns? etc.. (Screenshot?)

Running online or offline? Try the latter to see if there's something else running that's causing an issue when you're online.

Try selecting everyone, recruiting, then releasing to see if a Pawn(s) encountered some logical problem that is accumulating. Re-order work tasks, perhaps, to see if that helps, etc?

Hmmm well usually using runtime gc to clean up pawns, remove animal family and remove filth should fix it if its an issue of the game trying to remember to many pawns.

Another possibility could be a bug causing something to get stuck like in B19 when animals got stuck when reentering your map after caravans.
Have you tried changing zones on all your pawns and animals a few times to see if anyone is stuck? (that is change zone let them walk for a 5 seconds, change again, wait 5 seconds
then change again)

3rd possibility would be some mod causing a crash.
You can see this if you turn on dev mode and see if the log registers any errors while playing.

4th possibility is starting a new game and see if its the same.
If that works fine, then try removing all mods and reload the laggy file.

If all that doesn't work i don't know.
Because i'm using a 6 year old computer who works fine on a colony thats lasted 10 years ingame with 56 pawns and loads of animals.
So it really shouldn't be a pc issue if you used runtime gc.

The RuntimeGC mod also removes dirt from all places, but I got an assinged cleaner, who handels most of the dirt usually. Still the remove dirt option of the mod did not work.

I just reloaded an older safegame, where everything went fast, as usual, but now after some time has passed it just went into normal speed mode again (actually it is even slower now, like a slow mode).
My map is a large sized map, half of it is mountain tho. And i got 16 pawns in my colony, no traders, guest etc at the moment.
I tried banning everyone but that did nothing as well.
Okay, I got over 40 different tamed animals, but that was never a problem before.
I got a lot of wild spawns as well and ocassionally I kill a few of them for food and I butcher a few of my rabbits and chicken as well and it has never made any issues having a fluctuating amount of animals around.
I will reload and try to decimate my animals.

Okay Talesin, I did not see your post when posting it. i will unrestrict all animals and try to fiddle around with my mods. i will give feedback later.

As Talesin suggested, check out your error log. You may see something broken hammering your speed down and that may give you an idea what's wrong. Check your PCs Ram and CPU allocation and check drive space to make sure your log hasn't super-inflated.

Okay, from what i understand some of the mods could not be retraced and there is a whitespace error somewhere while loading?
I feel like its because of the what the Hack mod. That would make sense thinking about it, ever since today one of the hacked mechanoids stopped working at all. I guess I will destroy that stupid mechnoid and then I will deinstall the mod.
I will give an concluding update if that was the problem.

Hi hi! I had a similar problem but my troublesome mod was the like - auto lights mod! Meaning the lights turned on when someone walked in a room. The game couldn't keep up !

i had a big issue with dryad cocoons from ideology. If they are fully healed they will make you're game choppy.

I had a strange different issue where I was saving and reloading while switching out a couple of mods and while dong that I had a prisoner almost die from hypothermia which caused the game to enter emergency mode and disable my fast forward, I don’t think it was supposed to do that for this but it also decided to just never let me fast forward again even once all the emergencies were cleared.. fortunately reloading a auto save before the bug fixed it but I was scared I was going to lose my save to not being able to fast forward anymore but it was very strange and I wonder if anyone knows what might cause it and how to fix it if it happened and you couldn’t reload

Idly enough I had the exact same issue happen again while I was typing this comment but this time it was while a caracoma happened at the exact same time as an auto save so it makes me wonder if it’s caused by a save at the same time as an emergency
