OMG! Disease when you only have one pwn ...
Stop with the fricking disease when you only have 1 pwn ... Christ, I have not been sitting here just letting the GD game run while my single pwn in my new game gets disease after disease after disease.

At least give me a damned Jump ahead to the next even button!!!! Arrrrgh!

Mechanist start? Same thing. Also my single pawn very quickly grew an extended family. 4 kids, 2 grandkids a brother, an exwife and what ever a "kin" is. I had to get a medical "assistant" turning my solo run into a duo. Then finding out mechs can't caravan on there own and tunnelers can't deepdrill I needed an away mechanist so now my solo is a trio run.

Kin = relative. Technically, "related to", coming from "cynn", meaning "to give birth to".

take penoxyline or w/e its called. Disease chances are lower in certain biomes too

During your adventures, if you can capture yourself a sickly prisoner, do it. They act as a "lightning rod" for the disease event, and will usually if not always be the sole person afflicted.

Bonus points if you install an immune booster, find a sickly Waster, or otherwise gene boost their immunity so they need minimal/no looking after. Brilliant or utter cheese, you decide.

Randy Random by any chance????

I get hit with that quite often on the first day, and yer, it just repeats stacking up, until the germs kill you.

ironically, it only tends to happen when I start as naked brutality with no option to start from last save XD

ah, I hate randy sometimes...

ohhh, now THAT sounds good...
Tribal, naked brutality, Randy, with no option to save... here I come...

I sound so hopeful, and I am...
Its amazing how something so small can lead you into a sense of 'Having a Plan'
... really hope I get a chance to implement this idea XD

As I said, solo survivalist mode, beginning of the game!

I'm afraid that's not how it works. Sickly pawn disease is separate from regular disease event. All you're doing is giving yourself additional disease events, though the extra ones are limited to one pawn.

Kind of hard to get access to that early game. But, while diseases on single pawn starts are annoying, I'm not the one complaining. They're part of the game. Part of the risk of single pawn starts. OP, don't settle in the jungle with a single pawn start if you don't want to be hit with frequent diseases. ;)
The more you complain about Randy, the more powerful he becomes. Be careful. :poeIIshifty:

If you go with a single pawn scenario, add penoxyline as one of the starting resources and aim to unlock that tech early. Or alternatively, start in a biome that don't have frequent disease events; arid is the easier one among those imo.

Oh? News to me. That's how I've always understood it to work, and it seemed to hold true with my current colony. Year 5, haven't had a single disease event that didn't land exclusively on my sickly captive. Could be chance? Or maybe they're just my lucky, legless charm.

I usually play single pawn starts too. I also turn down disease frequency in the settings. Sometimes I still get unlucky, but then I'm just playing to amuse myself for a few hours, not playing to win.
Bathory Nov 19, 2022 @ 12:18pm
Them's the breaks with Randy. If you want grace periods and variety of events, don't play Randy.

If you manage to survive this though, it'll make for a cool story. Not a fun game experience while it's happening, but fun to reflect on. I've enjoyed your story.
