Of course, if you just want a do-over with your existing loadout, create a save when you start the game and hold onto it.
As far as continuing the save, you can abandon a colony at any time by selecting the colony from the world map and choosing the appropriate option - assuming your colonists have escaped the tile.
If you're a veteran and you know all that already, apologies. Unaware of a mod-specific solution, though if something like that exists, I'm sure someone will be along shortly.
Yep, I know all those you explained. No worries. I just thought it would be interesting when I can create a new crash land survivors on the old site. Or even better, settle on a nearby site and visit the old one after a while. This creates continuous storytelling and a reason to create a bigger (50-100%) map size.
If there's an easier method like just getting a new cell without this and plopping down a colonist or 3 let me know.
