How to trade using the orbital trading beacon?
I'm really low on components and need to trade to get enough to start constructing them. Traders come every once in a while but it isn't enough. How do you use the orbital trading beacon. Does it need to be outdoors? I have a comms console and it never tells me that a ship is coming into range. I understand I can pay for one but its way too expensive.

Put the bacon in the middle of your main wharehouse, be sure that your silver, gamecoin, is in there, then just wait for the call from one ship that is passing by. Sorry for my english, is not my first language.

I've done that, it doesn't seem to be working for me.

It has to be outside before, but now you can put it inside your base. Make sure veltena said.

You built communication console, right? Also connected with conduit both of them?

Make sure you aren't missing the ships. They just pop up trade notifications like any other trader and if you've gotten used to going "whatever" and clicking notifications without reading them it's easy to miss the fact that it said it was a ship (and that, therefore, you need to use your comms console).

I think you also need your console to be powered on to get the message but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I've done all those things but seem to continue to have the problem of not getting ships. I might of found the problem but its just a guess. I'm using a mod that lets you select a trading spot. But that shouldn't create a problem with trade ships. The mod simply let's you manually select where trade caravans collect so they're not running around your base.

Your comms console needs to be on all the time. Don't power it down, ever. If your console has power, you just need to be patient.

I'm also in the situation of "Ok...it's built, it's plugged in...there's a bunch of beacons...where my ships at?"
It's been about 1/2 a year so far...how often are they expected to come?

Once every 15 days or so.

Note that you posted in a thread that is over 2 years old.
