Need a way to stop people from eating raw meat and recently killed animals...
...Their so frickin' hungry that they eat a recently killed boar and they regret doing it. Well if you can learn some control and wait for to be butchered and cooked, you wouldn't have to regret eating raw meat!! >_>

I'm guessing the person you've got assigned to cooking isn't doing it at a very high priority?

I guess it was sashimi for dinner that day.

Have your cook make meals for the next day, then you will be set.

Until I have a surplus, I usually watch for anyone approaching the dead animals / meat and then draft them until someone can make a few meals.

I have a cook set to high but they don't seem to cook often. I draft them too but I'm busy monitering my other sources of food and things. >_<

Deprioritise the other things the cook might be doing. If she/he's got nothing but cooking, firefighting, doctoring, and patient.... then we got a problem. Chances are, the cooks are out hauling or cleaning, or hunting. Research makes them study for 1 hour blocks despite you changing their priority awhile ago. Luckily other tasks are more responsive.

You cook should have cooking as their highest job priority. It is literally the most important thing in your colony.

Forbid the corpses. Seems to work here. Same with forbidding drugs if you don't want them snatching them in their spare time, or components when, say, saving 30 of them up for a component bench. As for the animal butchering thing... when starved the idea that they should eat the corpse comes before the game tells the chef to butcher and cook, so in those cases you usually have to micromanage. :P

In my case I have a zone that includes the entire map except the corpse storage. Everyone save for the chef is assigned to that zone, so they can't get to the corpses.

Have your garden set up so that it's right beside your food storage, which is right beside your kitchen/butcher. Have your people deliver from the fields to the storage. If they are doing that well, forbid the chef from entering the garden so that he doesn't constantly take the slow run from the kitchen to the fields and instead takes only from the storage and he'll whip out 80 meals a day.

Okay, I already have a component bench.

Lock the door to your storage area until you can cook the meat. Also set up a freezer so the meat doesn't spoil. If your not that advanced yet and just dont have rooms set up for storage, you can always make the meat untouchable. Just select it and click the green. Check mark so it has a red X and now. Nothing will touch it. But I advise to build a small room, put two coolers in the walls and lock the door until it's 33 degrees or lower. Now your meat is frozen and nobody will touch it.

Your welcome.

Remember to put one of those coolers 1C higher than the other, if you're doing two. Saves energy.

@OP

You need about 2 meals per day per colonist, so set your cook to cook until you have X, and make it #1 priority...they will generally cook until they hit that limit most times.

Also...make a stool for your cook, AND stools next to them, make one stool have a zone for meat, the other stool a zone for veggies, etc.

That way they have a stack of meat and veggies right next to them, and when placed on stools they will cook MUCH faster....have them drop it on the floor when done to speed it up even more.

Save energy? Nah, I got so many things going on, I dont worry about saving energy. With 3 steam vents in my base (using only one currently) I doint have to watch my energy levels. I have 3 freezers. One in my bunker which everthing is forbiddden incase of nuclear fallout (last one lasted a month so I had to make preperations for the future) The other two have four coolers each and I never have power loss. All coolers are set to -454.
