How do you get the beauty of your rooms up?
I tried adding colored light, marble tiles, nice sofa chairs, cleaning them, it all doesn't seem to help. What am I missing?

Statues. They are far superior that anything else in beauty terms (one legendary marble large statue = 960 beauty). Dinner chairs nice too.

Flowers if you don't have master builders and artists, dining chairs, beds if you have good builder, statues if you have good artist. Statues are the best in term of effective beauty by tile as corisai said.

I'd make sure that existing furniture isn't causing a negative mood "boost" also.
Didn't know for a long time "shoddy" or "poor" furniture caused a negative effect.

Thanks. Damn, I always sold all the statues because they made a lot of silver. Building one for every room now. Plus some flowers.

Beauty of stone and wood ones roughly the same when they are matching quiality. But stone ones worth like 5 times more and take like 4 times longer to be done. So make wood for your rooms and stone for sale.

Initially - yes. For perfecting - no, room wealth included in total impresiveness calculation.

But before beauty stuff - recreate all colonists wooden beds until their superior+ (or excellent+ if you have really good crafter). This will reduce time they wasting on sleep quite notable.

Also redone all dinner room dinning chairs until they too - either superior+ or excellent+

And armchairs made not for impressiveness (no-no in dinning room or rest room!), they are made for maximal comfort, so place them to your workshops.

For impressive room boost - yeah) It counts everything including cleanliness, wealth, beauty and space) For pleasant environment, which much easier to achieve - no, as it counts only beauty and cleanliness (because dirt lowers beauty)

@corisai - Do armchairs have more comfort than dining ones? How much more? Didn't know that. I guess I need to refit my workshop slightly.

Excellent cloth armchair. Comfort : 1.04. Beauty : 10. Cost : 360$
Excellent alpaha wool armchair. Comfort : 1.04. Beauty : 10. Cost : 1260$

Excellent wooded dinning chair. Comfort : 0.91. Beauty : 39. Cost : 200$

For superior difference is 0.96 for cloth armchair and 0.84 for dinning chair.

Surerior wooden dinning chair keep "extremly comfortable" +8 mood buff. Excellent cloth keep "luxuriantly comfortable" +10 mood buff. I'm mean - keep it for whole night-shift.

Oh, ok, I get it. Still excellent dining chair gives Luxuriantly comfortable mood boost too, maybe not as fast, but beauty modifier makes up for it. 0.13 more comfort really not worth it...

I tend to try providing both beauty and comfort to workspace, so they don't whine as much when they do more working hours than usual. And with some statues and chairs it easy to push it to very pleasant environment and at least Very comfortable.

Yes, excellent+ is more then enough. It's just easier to receive superior+ armchair that a lot of excellent+ chairs.

Yes, I'm doing same in late-game. But firstly I'm going to build my rec&dinner room up to extremly impressive level.

Yeah, I guess if you don't have enough wood to make several dining chairs trying to get excellent - then armchair is a good alternative) I'll make a mental note for the next run, thanks for the info)

And you can craft superior stuff with reasonable 25% chance at skill level 14. While same for excellent will require level 17. :)

Don't forget about breakpoint at 17 crafting/constructing skill level (and 20 too, but lol). If someone hit it - it's very good reason to begin recrafting old stuff.

Yeah, I always keep one builder training with stone chesstables, once I have two decent builders and at least 7-8 colonists. I don't really like skill drop system though, so I use Mad Skills - Tiered mod, that makes skills drop only to last achieved level and not futher down.
