Hydroponics in the desert?
I'm playing a desert colony and I would like to build a hydroponics farm but the electricity cost of sun lamps is a bit prohibitive at the moment. Is it ok to leave them outside or will they explode like the other electronics? It doesn't rain all that often but is it worth the risk?

I believe they're fine to run in the sun. Alternatively you can also use small lamps to still get food, albeit they'll grow much slower.

I tried puting one out while it was raining and it didn't blow up but I don't know if I just got lucky or they don't care about getting wet.

Those hydroponic plants itself dont blow up, since it uses no power at all. If the sunlight is enough to make the plants growing as fast as with the sunlamp? I dont know dude...
