Better walls? Marble or Limestone?
If it matters what I build my base out of, I'd love to know if limestone or marble is tougher than the other, as they're the only ones in my world

Press the I after selecting the type of stone, it will show you HP of the wall piece.

i think granite has the highest health as a side note.

Granite > Limestone > Slade > Mable.

Don't have sandstone :)

As a side note, go with the most accessible to you.

If your base is surrounded by marble and most of the limestone deposits are half the map away, go with marble.

Difference in HP is not that big and walls never really go down, unless they are targeted by sappers or bugs, and then, they will go down very fast no matter what.

Yean, my current base build from slade, because well, it's slade mountain :)

But doors almost require granite, in A15 even manhunters that don't see any your colonist will sometimes attack doors.

Thanks everyone. Since you seem helpful, whats the best staple crop to go for? So far as mass producing goes, right now I have about 1:1 with potatoes and strawberries

Depend on soil fertility.

In hydroponic - rice.
With 100% + fertility - corn (but have smaller field of strawberries/potatoes (100%) or rice (140%) in case of sudden blight)
With 60% fertility - potatoes.

Soooo, if I have rich soil, go with rice? If not, potatoes. Short on strawberries.

Nope. Corn for rich&ordinary soil. Just not only corn, because it's have very long growing time.

Uranium > Plasteel > Granite > Limestone > Sandstone > Marble > Slate > Steel > Wood

Wood, Steel, and Plasteel catch fire... so keep that in mind.

I think Corisai been playing too much Dwarf Fortress. He got slade on the brain. ;)
If you really had a mountain made of slade, I think your colonists would be in for some happy fun stuff. lol

Use whatever's in abundace. But I tend to save my marble stones for sculptors. Marble provides the biggest beauty bonus of all the stone types.

Corn - Can be eaten raw, longer grow times therefore more susceptible to blight or if in hydroponics damage/death due to solar flares. Grows well on fertile soil, poorly otherwise.

Rice - Fast grow times on fertile soil or hydro, doesnt do well in non-fertile soil, fast enough to limit concerns with solar flares and blights.

Potatoes - Good for poor soil, doesnt get a big boost for hydro or fertile, its the average food.

Berries - Can be eaten raw, and have a quick grow time, so if you need easy food fast, this is what you want...meaning food is critical, you cant deal with nutrient paste debuffs and have no cook, and you just lost a crop due to some event or you dont have the time left in the grow season for anything else.

So essentially its situational.

If you have a long growing season, and no need for indoor farms or hydro and fertile soil, corn in multiple grow zones in a staggered cycle.

If you dont have the fertile soil...then potatoes.

If you have no grow season, and use an indoor farm on fertile soil, I'd go rice just due to speed vs corn, but if you have multiple get corn in there.

If you have indoors but no fertile soil, potatoes.

If you have no grow season and no soil ( Ice sheets ) and use hydro, rice.

If time is critical, strawberries.
