Melee: Club vs Sword/Knife?
I've been wondering something. Wouldn't a plasteel club be superior to a longsword and/or knives? Considerations:

1) All armor types protect 3x-4x as much against cut damage than blunt. Dangerous raiders will be wearing Armor Vests and Kevlar Helmets, which have high cut protection and very low - almost no blunt protection.
2) If you ever wanna capture and use these guys you down later, they'll be less likely to have fingers cut off and stuff.
3) Faster attack speed than longsword, which can possibly lead to more stunning?

p.s. do stuns interrupt enemy attack and reset their CD?

Clubs give out bruises and have the chance of destroying limbs. I'm more of a pro-blade type of guy for it makes people bleed (on top of the pain) and go down faster than giving them tiny boo-boos. I don't recall there being a stun for landing a hit before your opponent..I might be wrong.

That being said, any idea what I should give my prison guard? I've currently got him equipped with a plasteel gladius (so he can fend off melee raiders aswell), but do you think a longsword or a club would be better to subdue prisoners or should I just keep the gladius? [Side Note; I don't actually mind limbs missing since I usually don't recruit prisoners]

Longsword might decapitate your prisoners. I'm no melee weapons expert but if you're looking to prevent prisoners from escaping, use the club. If you have a huge prison and things such as a prison riot could happen, your warden is best suited with a weapon that can dispose of people quickly. I guess your gladius is the best bet but I think merchants pay less for prisoners missing limbs.
I think you guys are disregarding the dmg reduction you're getting against armored vests and kevlar helmets, which give anywhere from 30-50% cut damage reduction each, while only 5-10% blunt dmg reduction. Blunt dmg can kill just as easily as cut dmg. Trust me, I've tried to "safely" down prisoners using my tailor who can't fight, using only bare fists and killed the guy by breaking his neck -_- Cassandra pretty much decides what is lethal and what isn't lol. What I DO know is that limbs are more likely to be lost with the long sword, not because it's cut damage but because it is high dmg per hit and that is enough damage to one body part to completely destroy it. Legs and arms have IIRC 20hp, and that is how much a decent longsword does per hit. This is also why sniper rifles destroy limbs and organs because they go through that organ/limb's full HP in one single hit, whereas damage from faster but less dmg per hit weapons will distribute the pain. Ultimately, downing opponents happens at the same rate, but it's more likely that they can be patched up - unless of course you break their neck or crack their skull with your lightning fast tailor hands.
