2) Create an "allowed zone" that contains the whole world (use the Invert button for it) and delete the area with the raw ingredients from it
3) Set all colonists except the cook to that zone
Another thing I noticed is that if you have a really large base and all your cooked food is too far away from hungry people, they'll go in raw all the time. This can happen if they went mining on the other side of the map. It could also happen if they slept on the far side of your base. For the latter, I had to make a 1x1 stockpile for meals only.
Sure, some of it goes to waste, but it's better than setting another cold room for meals only....
Who knows, maybe if your base has so much power it could afford another cold room on seperate sides of your base.
No, it does not. A simple meal converts 0.5 nutrition of raw ingredients into 0.85 nutrition.
Or in other terms: 100 meat cooked equal 170 uncooked meat.
Or in other terms: Cooking reduces your food demand by 42%, which is obviously the more important, the less food you have.
If you have enough it doesn't really matter.
Some guys even prefer eating raw foods.
The best tip is having cooked food stored next to your dining table.
If you cool that storage the food will take longer too rot and most of the time your colonists will eat from there.
Make it large enough to hold wines, pizza, health drinks and yayo :D
Don't cook to much. Set it to always have 10 or 15 orso.
Better eat a few apples then have meals rotting.
Store your raw foods in a freezer not to far from the kitchen. Quick walks for the chef.
Freezer, cooker, cooler. Freezer, cooker, cooler, freezer, butcher, freezer, cooker etc etc.
Freezing a manhunterpack will supply your colonists with meat forever.
Do not eat or cook the bugs. Your colonist don't like them.
But if your colonists are starving they will walk the quickest route to food.
Any food.
You can have food prepared but he/she might chow down on a corpse if that is quicker.
Then it is your fault if they get a bad mood from eating aunt Engie.
Having a dinnertime tab or a sirene added would be nice though.
Then everybody can enjoy aunt Engies contribution to dinner :D
So I think its a slightly bigger issue than wasting food.
Place kitchen INTO freezer.
And also - make cook work in night shift, when everyone else are sleeping.
