Trauma Savant
I am not sure if this is any of the mods I am currently using, so I am sorry in advance if it is that case.

So today After a raid and capturing couple people I found out that one of them has enhanced manipulation without having bionic part (Trauma). Is there an easy way to trigger this modifier? I mean having a colonist that is unable to do anything social is bad, but I think the tradeoff is worth it.

@OP

Its brain damage that makes them loose much function in most areas, but get a huge boost to a single thing.

After hundreds of hours, I got my first savant. Too bad he died 2 seconds later by a death stack of tribals. *sigh*

This is vanilla Rimworld, right?
Trauma Savant is vanilla yes.

Did you get a chance to see how he got boosted?

Here's one. Boosted Manipulation by 50% while Talking and Hearing went down to 0. He was already frail, so it didn't really help that much. With the missing finger his manipulation was only 110%. T'was a friendly-fire accident.

I was curious to know how much their stats were changed, meaning did his medicine go from 4 to 16 and so forth.
Johnny Cash Sep 26, 2016 @ 9:23am
As I see it, there is no change in stats, it affects only "health".

The concept of a savant is someone who looses much of their mental functioning in most areas but gain an almost super power at something specific.

For example someone has brain damage and turns into Hodor, but can solve math problems like a walking calculator.

The wiki also says they get lowered stats across the board but gain a huge boost to a single stat...just was curious how much of a boost and if it was worth it.

There is the psy lance that has a chance to cause brain damage so...

You mean the rimworld wiki, right? It says "Certain capabilities will rise and some will fall." And after that, the word "stat" is mentioned. Now keep in mind, the wiki is written by laymen. I think you misunderstood the explanation there. To me, both times things like talking, hearing, sight, and manipulation is meant.

And that's what happened to my pawn: he lost talking and hearing and got a boost to manipulation. Nothing else. As far as I remember, no skills changed.

Saw the +50 manip, as a -50, which is why I was trying to figure out what got boosted, lol.

Still though I would assume stats would have a chance to be boosted as well as things like sight or manipulation, etc.

Yes, that would be marvelous, but also complex, I imagine.
Maybe a boost to learning XP in certain skills could accompany certain capability boosts. And a respective drop for skills that rely on the reduced capabilities.

Or, even better, a higher learning efficiency, beyond 150%.

Well to clarify I was essentially just meaning, something like -20 from random stats...then +12 to a random stat, type of situation.

Thats why I like the advance medical option mod. My cook wasn't lucky enough to get any buffs. Just became a stupiud slow moving zombie that could cook a few meals a day. Poped an AI chip in her and she was good as new.

Yes, I got a chance to see that manipulation was boosted by 50%, so it was 150% written there. I got the same with Johnny, it was 0 for hearing and social. My guy was 1 in social anyway so no biggy'. The other "stats' that mytheos mentioned wasn't noted... sorry mate. It happened during a nasty fight and my only savant died 20 seconds later to a lethal torso shot.

What was different I noticing here was my guy was boosted in at least 3 areas. Sight, moving and manipulation. What was halarious was that after the usual "headshot" text started scrolling, the savant drop his ♥♥♥♥. Literally. Saw his gun on the ground and he just stood there. I thought i was on pause. It was surreal, since everywhere was arrows and CR bolts flying and he was like "I SEE THE LIGHT!"

Edit: it was a straight boost of 50% on all 3 areas.
