fine vegies need 0,75 nutrietion normal 0,5 but if you dont have meat at moment you could get the mood buff of fines meal at higher cost.

fine meals give a buff, lavish a bigger buff, and paste/raw/kibble give a debuff. if you have a specific requirement on veggie/meat meals in your ideology, then that can further add a buff/debuff.

as far as the meal's impact on the pawn? no. lavish meals do provide 1.0 nutrition compared to 0.9 for simple and fine (wiki's numbers anyways) so i suppose the lavish meals are more effective, but they are far from efficient considering what amounts have to go into them.

they are really just there to allow you to trade resources for mood

The not-mixed meals have higher nutrition costs to produce, but they're useful if you're overloaded on either food type or have an ideology that requires/forbids a food type.

Lavish meals provide bonus mood. But they all provide the same nutrition at the end of the day. You could argue that it provides more nutrition, but when your colonists eat they fill their food bar to 100% regardless.
Strangely there's such a thing as a vegetarian lavish meal if it contains eggs instead of meat.

ok that helps. i thought maybe there is a bonus to having multiple meals that residents can choose from. but that's probably not the case. then i can save myself the trouble of preparing everything.

Isn't there a vegetarian trait? I believe one of the precepts requires vegetarian food.

They can also require carnivore food.

Am tempted to do a fluid ideology based on diet fads. Every reform, swap between vegan and carnivore based on what the latest magazine pulled off a dead raider said to.

Yeah that was rustling a few feathers back then because those who didn't want to RP as brutal meat eaters only had the choice between nutrient paste or simple meals.
