So, for example, I attribute the mission system to the Royal DLC.
I liked the *idea* of biotech more but the execution is not my favourite ever. I was hoping for a bit more aesthetic variety. Why specifically pigs, cats, and dogs? Why add a pig nose but not others? It feels like someone stopped half way. And the fact that in-game you're limited to xenogenes seems like a pointless restriction. I mean, is breeding really so strong that they can only afford to let me design a race at the start? Doesn't feel like it. Mechanically the default vampire race is well OP compared to that. They should just let us do it.
And ideology is... idk. It offers some nice QOL improvements, but I'm not inclined to take any drastic ideological paths because some aspects of the vanilla game (e.g. low tech gear variety, access to underground-focused maps and the variety of underground enemies) feel pretty bare and limiting myself to them isn't fun. So it basically just enhances the way I already played, somewhat.
More RP possibilities.
But the new gene system also very good. Making possible to simplify aliens (like some modders already did).
because BADASS SOUNDTRACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh and the content too
Because RP, in short.
Ideology is whatever, don't hate it, don't love it. Probably should have been expanded further than it was.
Biotech is the worst. It's highly over rated because 'children'. If biotech didn't have that feature people would be really scratching their heads about what is going on. It needs a lot of work.
Sadly, biotech probably won't get the time that it deserves because the developer will spend most of the next year working 10 hours a week to produce another DLC that will probably cost 30 dollars with even less content.
Once again the modding community will have to make the new features actually deep and interesting.
There's plenty of room to be filled by modders and I'm sure thats the plan, after all Rimworld is a modding community and you have to leave space for that side of the game. So c'mon modders lets have more appearance choice and genes please
However thanks to vanilla psycasting extended i think its bumped royalty right up on the top of the best dlc, though biotech is a close contender, biotech will however NEVER be allowed to be called the best DLC because it starts with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ B.
we had
Royalty
Ideology
m
W
O
R
L
D
before ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ biotech ruined that streak and that grinds salt
And all this time, Tynan just wanted RIBS for lunch. Next DLC will be titied Sandwich! 100%
2 Ideology, because it has a major impact on pawn and faction relations, and basically makes game rules editable
3 Royalty, because it added a new unique gameplay style that has a unique ending, but basically Noone but you will ever trigger a single psycast ability ever once.
