How to keep rooms clean?
Even my hospital with sterille tiles gets really messy, I know how that people bring mess from outside, but whats the best way to reduce mess on my rooms?

well theres mods with doormats, but i personally don't like to use them. Otherwise I usually asign one colonist to cleaning/hauling duty only. Its a good way to use otherwise useless pawns. But in general I think rooms get dirty to fast in the game, there should be more vanilla options to prevent that.

if you dont have any mods for it the easiest way is to quite literally have a pawn as a glorified maid, that will just be on cleaning duty eternally

Having cleaners helps a lot and having walkways helps since if pawns walk on flooring they don't get dirt stuck to their shoes as much as if they were walking on dirt. Other then this there are probably a few other tips but for the most part, one dedicated cleaner and walking paths cuts down on a lot of cleaning. There might be a few thing in the dlc that might help to not sure.

You can download a cleaning zone mod so you can setup prioritys for seperate areas

with slavery and worker mechs this is probably the best solution to it. In addition I have all my pawns on cleaning duty for a day once in a while but only if its really dirty

I set my cook to clean=1 cook=2

build paths between your buildings, assing someone who has naturally much downtime to cleaning, manage the work tabs of your pawns that the best suited for a job is busy doing their job... and if they cant.. they clean.

Straw Matting floor fixes the mess fr the most part. I would still recommend keeping the sterile tiles in the hospital and cleaning them manually, but everywhere else straw does wonders.

Build a mechanoid and tell it to cleanse the filth. Hope it parses correctly.

That seems pretty bad option bit later since there is no time to actually cook anything. i literally lost my game to dirt because food poisoning and constant mental breaks from ugly enviroment. i don't know if mechs are bugged or what but holy cow how much they bring dirt in. 3 coloninsts and 5 bots, no animals and all 3 colonists was constantly cleaning non stop. that damn dirt just kept coming back faster than 3 dudes can clean it.

also dont allow your animal friends indoors. i think animals bring in a lot of dirt.

Grow a colonist in a growth vat that will be used only for fighting, cleaning, and hauling.

Do you have a walk-through kitchen?

Make sure the kitchen only has 1 entrance and isn't used by other pawns to walk through between job trips and hauls. This will save you 90% of the dirty buildup in the kitchen when nobody else but the cook and the cleaner comes in. I tend to build mine as a self contained room a little off from the fridge.

Also consider getting a proper janitor. They are a pawn you will use on the front line, either melee (preferred) or ranged should be their primary skill since cleaning and hauling are non-skilled job types. Then prioritize them backwards, Cleaning first, hauling second, then whatever they are good at, personally I have a preference for wardening but thats just me.

This way you're working the work tab schedule on two ends. Normally cleaning is done last and therefore always skipped and ignored by most pawns. Make sure that someone starts at the end of the tab first and moves up in priorities.

Also like someone mentioned, make sure that floors are tiled between your busiest walking destinations (even outside, use flagstone or something, it looks nice too) as this will prevent dirt from being pulled into the rooms.

One of the vanilla expanded furniture mods includes a trashcan and a dumpster that once built will clean the area around them slowly. There is also the common sense mod which makes pawns clean around a place before they use an item in it, such as a workbench or bed.

Making sure rooms you want to keep clean don’t have pathing through them and setting a pawn to forever cleaning duties are the two best non mod ways.

Using this will ensure that your pawns aren't cleaning your dumping zone, garden, and other dumb areas.
