Can someone lock this thread please? There is no worthwhile discussion happening here. The steam forums are for discussion about steam games, not complaints about other internet forums.
I do miss the glory days of the internet, uncensored unbridled degeneracy with a strong undercurrent of free thought expressed to its ultimate form, aside from spam and cp I honestly don't care what someone posts online. But nowadays you can't even make a sarcastic ♥♥♥♥ joke or they'll think you're dog whistling lmao. There's something wrong with these people who see enemies at every corner and are paranoid about everyone being a terrible person if their views don't align. I honestly think and am proven time and time again that these people have more corpses and unresolved trauma hidden in their closet than any one else.
Also I think the argument that the internet is a ''private / corporate space'' is a dumb argument, it's clearly not and should not be treated as such. It is called a forum for a reason. Otherwise it would've been called a 'private meeting'. Y'all are tripping trying to hide behind private ownership when it comes to censorship. These are public communities unless a location is strictly restricted to a set of individuals no greater than a handful or by strict means of conditions which by nature exclude certain individuals.
Yo you got any sources that I can see for that claim regarding the cultures which share that thought?
I find it fascinating since it is often said that people who can't imagine things share the same fate. However I myself used to have complete aphantasia (not able to imagine anything, just a giant black screen) but have been able to teach myself to actually have imagination. I've always dreamed every night for example, whereas some people I know never have dreams or extremely rarely.
Huh guess you learn something new everyday. Still I wonder whether having an internal monologue really makes you not have the spark. When I'm hyper focused I don't tend hear my own voice either. Many who claim not to have an inner voice seem to have much stronger imagination to compensate. Rather than hearing ones own voice they see their own monologue in speech for example as if it is written down. Personally I think the spark has more to do with how you move internally inside your own mind and are able to reflect upon your true self and the nature of others. Even though I never had any imagination in my teens, I was able to conceptually understand practically any concept even though i couldn't visually imagine it. Now I can do both visually imagine it as well as conceptually keep it only as an idea, a flash of lightning so to speak.

Praise to woke community.
a level of sapience. Animals have souls of lower quality. Which is why some humans are seen as not much better than some animals.
I dont think anyone hears themselves constantly. It can be really exhausting when i have days where there is a lot.
That kind of means they still have a form of inner monologue, no? It is just in a different format.
Is that not what an inner monologue is? If you are experiencing your emotions or actions out loud its not really a monologue is it?
I think again this is the same for most people. If you have a cosy life as a protected teen there just not much to monologue about. Secondly the brain is still developing so it might just be spending time absorbing information rather than reflecting. It will differ from person to person i think though.
I'll preface this by saying that I am a diehard free speech advocate and also a progressive, politically. I will fight for anyone's right to say what they want to say, when restrictions actually impinge upon people's rights. And the latter is the important part. That said:
"The internet" isn't a private/corporate space, no. However, individual websites ARE NOT "the internet." The websites have owners, either individuals or corporations. "The internet" is merely the means by which you access various websites. In some cases, especially in the case of things like forums and social media platforms, websites can have terms of service, and in some of those terms of service it will be stated that in order to use the service they provide, you agree to not do "x," "y," or "z." They are within their rights to do this, as these are NOT publicly-owned services. So, if you then decide to do "x" anyway, then they can terminate your account or deny you access or whatever, and they are within THEIR rights to do so.
I've never used Discord, but as I understand it, anyone who signs up for an account can have a server. Therefore, that person or company or whatever can then make the rules that their users of their server agree to abide by. You break the rules after agreeing to abide by them, you get kicked out, and they're within their rights to do so, too.
I don't understand why this stuff is so difficult for people to understand.
YOU ARE WRONG BUDDY IM JUST A FULL TIME MORON LOL
