How to link shelves with Items In them? [SOLVED]

I'm kind of losing my mind on this one as nobody seems to be having this problem, meaning I haven't found an answer to this question yet. I am new to the game, so this could very well be a dumb mistake.

My issue: I love the shelves and am using them as storage for just about all my stuff. I've expanded my storage room, adding more shelves. I can't for the life of me figure out how to select multiple shelves at once when they have items on them. I can link the empty shelves super easily. I also know that double left-clicking selects all, that's an issue given my freezer has its own shelves and I can't even double-click a full shelf. Can I link my shelves without completely emptying them first?

Again, sorry if the solution is stupidly easy. I just can't figure it out and it's driving me nuts. Any advice on how to work this out is really appreciated.

You have shift-click each shelf individually. Try clicking on the edge of the shelfs

Dear God. You saved my sanity and I can't thank you enough. I was trying to scour the web for hotkeys and shortcuts but shift+left mouse never came up. This has made things so much better, thank you!
