Neanderthals are a bit overtuned
Robust on a 20 man melee raid is pretty outrageous. They just run up and light your turrets on fire. The number of bullets required to take down one is roughly equivalent to a cataphract armored pawn. And once they're down? You get literally no reward. They are so wounded that they bleed out before you can get them to prison and they took so many bullets that their trash tier tribal gear is torn to shreds.

Neanderthals might be tough, but a single competent psycaster will still mess them up very badly.

If you use vampires use coagulate on downed to tend all wounds instant and you can feed on the downed that you dont want for the missing blood.

just build the prison right onto your killbox/entrance/traptunnel, if they are dying form bloodloss cause prison too far away.

Patch the raiders on the field, saves them from death and saves the cleaning time on your hospital since you don't get blood everywhere.
Guess this only works if your killbox is enclosed, huh.

Man, this is a pro tip if I ever seen one.
It really didn`t come to my mind using it, and given that my vampi is also good at medicine I havent used the coagulate ability before.

Just got a raid, there was two downs, coincidentally two races that I don`t have a prisioner yet to grind the gene collection. Vampie use coagulate on both in a second and they are safely taken back. God bless.
Now I have yet another reason to turn my children into cybernetically enhanced murdermachines. (To be fair, one of them lost an arm and both legs)

I've yet to be Neanderthal raided, but I live next to them, and they hate my guts.

I need to try capturing some Neanderthals and give them even better armor and melee equipment. They seem like great melee warriors judging from what ppl say.

Yep. The game is evolving. Have to stop relying on cheap killboxes and stuff now. Get toxic grenades and watch them melt.

I just got gassed by a raid of wasters, most of them carrying tox packs, fun stuff to try to hold them on melee without any tox protection x):

Make a line -> they come -> when they clash, they pop a tox bomb -> retreat -> (repeat)

but having them go berzerk on eachother using psy skills is so much fun!
I get the feeling the neanderthals were designed to punish the usual meta of hiding behind cover with long range weapons. They're tough enough and pain resistant enough to close into melee fairly reliably against static defenses, but defenses with some strong staggering, kiting or tougher melee units stop them pretty reliably.

The non breacher neanderthal breachers are basically the biggest bs Ive seen yet. They two shot doors with spears and they move fast af. A lot of times they wont obey body blocks either.

The solution? save all the doomsday and triple rocket launchers you can

a few doomsday rockets on their massive sized horde really helps soften em up.

Neanderthals biggest difficulty is how large their raids can be. (imo)

I keep a few shelves in my armory loaded with rocket launchers just in case

That's ridiculous. My tribals wouldn't know which way to point the weapon! ( barely able to make rugs or advanced furniture). Via mods they're unable to work advanced weaponry they don't know how to make. So they find other quiet, less destructive of the surroundings ways of handling mobs of neanderthals.

We are a peaceful, but serious contemplative martial monastery who study the way of the blade, the way of the bludgeon, the way of the arrow and of the pila (once the pawn has mastered ranged skills), and the way of anima powers.

The puddle of crying, tormented, but alive Neando's at our feet is usually created rather quickly.
