How to get more Signal chips?

quick question, I have the first chip from fighting the first summon mech. Are there other ways to get the chips or is summoning them the only way. More advance stuff cost multiple chips and I don't know how to get more.

As far as i know summoning the bosses again are the only way to get additional chips. Also note that their escort will be more and more powerful each time they are summoned.

You can call more boss mechs multiple times at an increased threat or you can wait for them to appear naturally in mechanoid raids if you have the necessary wealth and you are at or past the year they appear.
The Diabolus will appear after 2 years
The War Queen will appear after 4 years
The apocriton will appear after 6 years

I used the signal chip and unlocked standard mechtech but that did not consume the chip. All I can do with the chip now is store it. Should I just sell it or is there some other use for that same one down the road?

You can use it for crafting Mechanoid items

There is also a random event iirc that happens akin to a quest to get some too.
