mods aren't a hard no; they are allowed for some games. there are limitations, i think scripting isn't allowed, but i'm not certain that is true.
either way, i'll agree on the controller issue.
Also games tend to be made with an eye on next generation. I have an Xbox One and have largely given up buying games for it. This game strikes me as the sort of that will be fine to play initially, but too many pawns in-game and the base console may go into meltdown. With that concern, I'm probably not going to buy.
Well, I like Terraria on console. I don't use any mods and just enjoy the fairly relaxing play. (Kinda relaxing, at least.)
But, I won't get Rimworld on console, either. It's too much a "PC" game for me. I enjoy console play for more action-oriented play and play where I have direct control over the main game elements, like a "character" in an ARPG.
Rimworld's menu system just seems too clunky to me for a standard console environment.
Note: Ludeon could certainly opt-in to support mouse&keyboard on applicable console platforms, though. Even so... nah - I'll stick to PC Rimworld
On Xbox, AFAIK, you can still associate your account with a registered Bethesda account and use the most hosted there. "I think" I don't know for sure and haven't tried. (I only mod the PC version)
PS: No, it only speaks to the XBox (One). But, there may be some allowances on the PS. I have a PS 4 but don't use it anymore. Xbox is basically made to be Windows compatible, so it may be easier (or at least more opportunity) there to mod than a PS.
The UI will probably be more annoying and there's no sign mods will be available.
